    Pro-Carbine

I know this is off the topic of Mag's but what happen to Tippmann's Pro-Carbine series. I know it wasn't that much of a hit. But it was a solid marker. I owned one years ago and I regert selling it made a awesome sniper scenerio marker.

    model 98

The model 98 came out, was cheaper to produce, faster to produce, and performed about as well as the pro-carbine ( same valve style I believe )

My first gun was a pro-lite...i will regret selling that thing every day that I live...i don't know what the hell I was doing...

Pro-carbines, carbines, and prolites were IMO the best guns tippmann ever made...

I got mine as an old rental from the owner of Rapid Fire Paintball in Northeast Ohio when he closed to field to move to vegas...

But that thing NEVER BROKE, and shot straight as an arrow...

I agree thats why i'll never sell mine. =) as long as there are replacement parts to grab somewhere it'll always be in my armory. hehe

Anyway yeah after a while rifle type markers to a back seat to more "speedball" tuck in style markers. As far as style there wasn't much more they could go on the design. And accessories at the time were abundant but as the BPS started to skyrocket tippmann sought a new venue to the 98 series which allowed more speed, and upgradablity.

Most people who use/buy the pro-carb are law enforcement used for pepper balls and the ones i've seen on the field are just rentals. Simple and solid; that's also why i like mags so much now...

no kinding I've seen some pissed off players smack their markers up against trees with full force and it hardly scratched it. My Roomate has a Original Model 98 the abuse that he puts that thing through is unbelievable. He has still yet to clean it from 3 years ago, he left it out side aired up in the winter of WI for a month, he drove over it with a car (broke the feedneck off), has ghetto'd half the o-rings in it, and to top it off is still hasn't been oil for 3 years.

Just air'd it up and its still sealed. besides all the scratches in it, it's in perfect working order. Truly the AK of the paintball world.

Kind of makes me wan't to do a durablity/abuse test to my old POS spyder SE (things pretty much a paper weight anyways)

I've got a Pro-lite that still works great, the velocity screw backs out on it, but as I recall that was a common problem. Anybody wanna buy it?

I loved that gun like no other, sadly it doesn't get any use anymore.

But still its a get marker to give new joins to the sport and not being sexist but a great marker to give to women.

The Pro-Carbine is still manufactured & sold to the government/police forces (at a huge markup!) - they are used for crowd control and shoot pepperballs.

thats weird not marketing to players? Maybe cause no matter what you did to it wouldn't break and they won't be able to make money in it's repair cost.

Hard to justify $800 to police and government agencies and $80 to players.

You wouldn't believe the marketing BS that they give the police - special hoppers (VL200) for $150.00 - regular paintballs (for practice), $200.00 per case, etc. Special cleaning devices (squegees) $20.00 ea.

What a wonderful gun it was. I sold it to get money to get an imp and the guy backed out on me. I wish I still had it. It could kick anybody out of the woods. And the rifle feel was a great feature. Same as being able to push the foregrip forward to clean the barrel.

Ah, now I want it back.
