TempurPedic Profiler

Hey everyone.

Heres the dealio. I have a TempurPedic pilow, and its awesome. So I want to incorperate the soft plush feeling of Tempur material with my Profiler. I want to replace the foam around the eyes with Tempur material. I have about a 3"x2"x1" piece of extra material, and am currently being shipped another. So I'll have enough stuff to work with. My question is, what cuts through Tempur material the best, i.e. will give me the cleanest most precise cuts. I would imagine its like any other foam.

Eeeek, I would not recomend TempurPedic foam as mask foam unless you like sweating

I would go to a train or hobby store that sells stuff like toy trains, model planes and such and pick up a foam cutting knife. Those things are so sharp that I would imagine it would cut through those bubbles in the tempur material with ease.

FYI- The knife looks like a scalpal and I bet just a sharp. I use one for my train scenery building.

its not an exacto knife. It is different it almost looks like a steak knife with without a seraded edge. The blade it like 4 inches long or so.

The Pro's use an electric carving knife...you know, like your dad or grandpa uses to carve the turkey.
Buy one at wally world cheap, or go to junk stores in your area. You can use it to shape the foam also.

I tried this when I was developing the Vents goggles. :) Felt fantastic on your face, but absorbed sweat and felt disgusting when you put it back on after taking it off between games. Also when you put it back on the sweat would be squeezed out and drip down your face and onto the lens. not nice.

But go ahead and try it for yourself. :)

not to hijack the thread or anything but since we are talking about foam..

Manike (or anyone who knows about this kinda stuff): My puppy decided the foam on my profiler would be a great chew toy one day and took out the lower half and then some. I am trying to decide upon where I can get some good foam and what glue should be used? I really love the foam in the profiler but I'll replace all of it if I must, I really only need a small piece and don't wanna have to buy up a ton.
And also, I plan on getting your E-vents but am waiting a little while til they are fully stocked and have all the kinks with the soft-ears out, This is just to tide me over .
Appreciate any help on this

Oh, and anyone know the best manner of getting sharpie off of a mask...I got bored one night haha.

I was going to use some of those mr.clean scrub things because I hear they are amazing and clean off anything haha.

tried it, and it worked well enough for thicker heavier foam (8' by 6' for a boat cushion), but for something as exact as a profiler lining, id say an exacto knife, or something of that sort

Take a wire and run it vertically, maybe knotting it through a C shaped wood apparatus. Take a lighter and heat the wire. then cut away, pressing the foam against the wire. (Unless you have the real cutting wire like we have at school, then forget what I just said to you )
