    Question on old markers

I have a few old markers, specifically a 94-95ish Minimag and a 95-96ish Cocker. Niether of them fire to well right now, probley from sitting in a box for 8+ years.

My questions are: Is it worth it to fix either of these to playable condition? Can the minimag be converted to run on the newer air systems?

Sorry for my newbishness I have been out of paintball for a whille and was just reintroduced using a *gasp* rental marker.

    Any help is vastly appreciated.

    Howdy,
    Welcome back to paintball!

I'm not much of a WGP guy, but I can tell you that a minimag is still an awesome gun... that is with some up grades.

    Look here...

    or here

First you will need a parts kit, to replace those old dry o-rings

Your next stop should be the level 10 anti-chop bolt. all but eliminates chops. BEST up grade for all mags.

Your minimag valve is ready to go with the N2 aka compressed air systems, no modifications needed, works better and faster than co2

If you are willing to drop some more money in search of a faster gun look here... The X-Valve

If you get the x-valve... you may want to have a lighter trigger pull weight so check out the ULT. Not recommended for the minimag valve, but it can be done.

Then to really take advantage of the light trigger pull check out the new frames that have double triggers...
    the intelliframe

and the really unique to AGD Y-grip...

And finally if you want a cool new body check out the ULE bodies (these have autococker barrel threading so you can get all sorts of cool modern barrels for it)...

Well that is just the beginning of what you can do with your mini mag!
At one point long ago my gun was a classic mag...

You can do the same thing to yours if you so desire.

    good luck!

Hehe, and then you can put your minimag back together with all the parts you upgraded.

Thats what you *need* to get it back up and running. Yes once it's running you can use any newer air system.

Wow and here I figured I would be trashing these old markers and buying a new one.

          Thanks for the info

The LVL X kit Comes stock on the X valve, and the Xvalve doesn't make your gun faster than a regular 68 classic valve.

                gezak -

You should be able to get the cocker working with the same level of attention: new o-rings, new springs, a little bit of lube. What was top-of-the-line 12 years ago is now mid-range. But I'm guessing you're no longer dreaming of the NPPL.

                Welcome back.

with the cocker, new o-rings, maybe springs, and a re-time and it should be slinging paint just fine. You might want to add a regulator depending on what else it has.

I'm sorry to contradict, but I'm not going to believe that you can pull a mech mag as fast as I can walk an electro(12 bps) until I see a video. turning my emag on mech, without rapid-firing, I can only shoot about 8 bps, while fanning, which is wildly inaccurate. I'd say in-game If I play on mech mode, I'd be shooting around 6 bps. I do agree though, that the reactive trigger makes it MUCH easier to shoot, just not that much easier...

Also gezak, If you are planning on upgrading your minimag eventually to a complete ule mag, it will be several hundred dollars cheaper to just buy it at once, instead of upgrading over time. I advise talking to Tunaman, he's always been great to me.
you know you play this game too much when the neighbors stop fixing their broken windows...

Well considering ive played 1 day in the last 8 years or so I'll probley stick with basics to get the minimag working: o rings and figure out whats wrong with the trigger.

Depending on how much I get back innto this + how much my wife will allow I may go into making it a nice marker again. Either way thanks all for the good info on both, I think i'll let the cocker sit and rot just cause it angered me greatly the last time I used it.

I have a 95 super cocker that works great! You cocker and mag will be easy to fix up again.

There is no point in making them nice markers again...they are already nice.

All the upgrade info you were given, file 13 it all. Buy a rebuild kit for $20 for the mini mag and go shoot. If you find yourself wanting to "upgrade" then browse the B/S/T threads and find one you like for MUCH cheaper than you can buy the sum of parts. The used marker market is MURDER on the actual value/money put in. There is no comparison. Let someone else take the loss.

Mags and Cockers never die, they just need new bits from time to time. I'd take a Classic Mag on the field that'd been sitting for over 10 years as soon as I'd grab any of my other guns. Granted, the sitting might have left some things in disrepair, but hey, that's what parts kits are for, right?
