It is by far the best pb ever shown on tv. Lot of angles, indicators, announcers, cameras up close. It was not high end production by at least its going in the right direction.
Thoughts on the ESPN PB shows?

Anyone else feel like Paintball would take advantage of the capabilities of HD -- the crispness of the image, the widescreen, etc? It might make following the field a little easier.

RK - i'm right there with ya. I was hoping to see some of that NBC HD Olympic zoom-in technology. Overall, I loved it. It was a great introduction for people outside the sport, and it was fun to watch for those of us who do compete in tournaments. Even a few non-ballers were watching it with my school's team.
The graphics and explanations made it easy for people to understand what's going on, and the commentaries, albeit sort of nerdy, made it exciting for people who don't want to watch speedball for the sake of speedball. Paintball is one of those sports that you have to want to watch, and ESPN2 did a great job with it.
I would love to see this continue!Comment

I thought the camera angles made it easier to see the paint and without that many non-PB'rs wouldn't watch long. Fairly well done. The cheating everyone noted needs to be stopped by the Refs or it just taints PB's image and eventually the number of viewers. I'm an occassional speedballer and mostly woodsball, but it's good to see PB on TV.Comment

Yeh, because millions of viewers turn off the NFL/College football because of holding / chop blocks / illegal formation / unsportsmanlike conduct calls. NASCAR fans turn off NASCAR when there is illegal bumping, or a team is penalized for illegal setup. Basketball for intentional fouls to stop the clock. I'm all for calling cheating cheating, and discussing the negative aspects of it, but lets not pretend that American viewers are going to be up in arms over it.
