Hop hop, I use my 68 classic as a sniper it has the original 12" barrel and i can tag my kills at 120 feet easily using a vertically mounted Co2 tank. At 100ft you cant even hear me when i tag you. Peeps hate my mag cause its soooooo quiet and compact. On my team i play the Hunter/Killer mode as soon as the shooting starts im hunting you..

Nope, unfortunately, the only way to get your gun to shoot further is to buy a flatline style barrel or turn up your velocity. Otherwise, every gun shooting at the same velocity shoots the same distance.

To me a sniper package would consist of a pump version of the autococker.
          But that is just me

The "sniper" tag is just to draw in new players that don't know much about the sport or paintball physics. Somewhere around 50-60', paintballs start dropping back to the earth if the gun is held horizontally on all markers (flatline tippy's exluded), so you have to elevate the gun slightly on targets over that. On accurracy tests of markers in reviews, you'll notice almost all guns have a tight grouping at 50-60', then it spreads out from there. In my experience, about 150' is the maximum effective range to lob one in on someone and have it break. I've had shots break that were farther out than that, but they were either due to luck or the volume raining down on someone. If someone tells you they are plinking people at 300 feet (which is a common claim), they're fibbing.

            sbpyro, good one, I agree!

It's hard to actually "snipe" unless you can crank up your velocity, other than that you can lob them with some accuracy. I've hit people at probably around 100 feet, give or take, and gotten them out after aeround 10-15 rounds cause they can be dodged and the tracers take for ever.

Oh, and sbpyro, why that specific gun? It goes the same distance. However i've heard from my friend's dad that the budd orr pump was a fine gun, and his brother had one. I still don't get why it has to be an autococker and a pump though.

What sbpyro is referring to is that the original Bud Orr gun was/is named the Sniper. More specifically, an Autococker is just a Sniper with pneumatics added. There are no pump auto-cockers; their either an Autococker or Sniper/Sniper II/Sniper III. And, like an Autococker, they aren't any inherently more accurate than any other marker, or have a flat trajectory, or anything like that (I know, I own and shoot a Sniper II).

Its because that is the name assigned to pump cockers.

Some of that military/commando stuff comes from Spec Ops. I hate them and their deceiving ways of tricking new paintballers into thinking they can be snipers.

As stated before, all guns at the same velocity will shoot the same minus the Apex barrel, Z-Body, Flatline, or anything else that puts backspin on the ball. Rifled barrels do nothing.

Paintball is paintball. Telling me that it is like being in the military is like telling me that by playing chess you are kind of in the NFL. You can't be a "heavy rifleman" or "sniper". Paintball has its own terms for those kinds of things. They are called front, mid, and back and can even apply to woodsball. Instead of saying "I'm a machine gunner" you can say "I lay down a lot of lanes or shoot a lot of paint to oppress the other team."

/If I hear sniper or Spec Ops one more time I'm going to vomit all over this desk.

Actually, it would be more accurate to say semi-auto Snipers, since they came first

An Autococker without a beavertail makes an extremely effective sniping weapon Anyone who's been playing for a while will know what I mean.

"snipeing" doesnt mean long range kills.

it means hitting your opponent without him/her knowing where you came from. its all about concealment. if you cant be seen, you the most deadly force to be recond with. if you are fast, good at hiding, and know your gun inside and out and what you can do with it, then by all means, you could be a sniper.

i say there are paintball snipers, because i tend to never hang with other people, i play in the woods alot and have learned what makes for good cover, and i always wind up shooting the other team in the back because they left a "hole" open for me to sneak through.

go ahead and let the flaming begin, but lets take this to the woods and i bet you'll shut up.

all a sniper is is some one that can be able to get a good shot of with out being seen a real sniper can shoot some one from 2 miles away a "paintball sniper" can only shoot with in his preforance

he has to have good fresh paint a barral that fits the paint
                              and posibly a site

a flatline does what they say it does but it is not acurate
