    Tactical Gear Reviews

    Greetings All,

I was just looking around and wondering if you use tactical gear, vests etc.. which type to you use? where did you get it and for how much? what you like/dislike about it.

looking for all variations from molle, to alice, to opsgear, specopspaintball, cops911, cheaperthandirt, blackhawk, even home grown/sewn stuff!

looking for a few ideas so please be clear and organized about your reviews.

how it handles on the field, pod placement, adaptability to different situations and games etc.. etc..

Pics would add alot too! so post them too!

    thanks in advance!

as for vest... i tried them and i can really say they are nothing special. i found that all i used on them were the pod holders any way. i say in that respect just get a pod belt its much mor cumfy IMO. plus if your into using radios you can really clip them any where.

and for optics. the only thing in my experience that is really worth anything is a red dot. i still cant figure out why people think laser sites are cool. i mean the red dot from a laser is only about 2mm wide. i dont know about you but i cant see a 2mm spon on somthing at 30-40ft.

I've been using the Flurry vest and the COPS911 "Recon" vest -- only its been modified to my spec's. The Flurry is by far the best bang for the buck in an off the shelf item. Its a very good all around vest. I have one in black and standard GI woodland camo. The COPS vest is what I use when I run with my team - NJTAG. Since we mostly attend scenario's, I had my vest altered to carry as much paint as possible to suit the needed role I play which is support gunner and medium rifleman. In the support role -- I usually load up with 4 x 150's in the rear and 2x100 in the front. Also add 2x100 on a thigh rig on my left side -- I shoot righty. My 92 ci HPA tank also sits in the rear. I have to say the COPS vest was pricey -- but the quality is very high. Can't beat the custom built vests -- they can make anything you want within reason. I highly recommend both brands - but I love my COPS rig the most.....

          My COPS911 vest and Flurry : http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.c...l_1895_4234416

I'm crushing a whole squad of guys at 40 BPS out of my SuperMag -- They're out of camera - but trust me, I gave no mercy and took no prisoners - LOL.

cops911 vest looks good on website and pictures but I personaly got one in hand and its just plain crap - sorry for flaming. Its just look lie it was made in sweat shop located somewhere in third world and sizing is awfully missmatched. I mean I am XXL and got vest that is XXL but I got mine hanging freely on my chest where nothing can be done to adjust it. And no I am not freak with narrow chest and big belly - ask BigEvil.

Yes they do custom but its nut high-end custom. Hunting vest from Cabella's will lokk better.

Take a look at flurry industries. Only $90 but quality is outstanding. Plus they padded. Plus got convinient pockets and velcro system. Fully adjustable and easy to clean.

You can use it with up to 9 pods and 2 tanks if you really need it.

Go flurry you'll never regret it.

Well, I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for ... but over the years I've whittled down my "tac gear" to things that I find the most comfortable, especially for belly crawling.

Starting with protective gear I use baseball sliding shorts with a flexible cup, and knee supports ... the kind you get at the pharmacy. These particular ones have a donut of dense foam around the knee instead of hard plastic so they're thin and flexible enough to wear under your pants but will still protect your knees from kneeling on rocks and such.

The pants I usually wear are dutch military DPM camo. The thing about these pants are that the waistline has two huge splits with velcro tabs, so they always fit perfectly no matter what. It's a much better design than the US BDU's. They're also have very wide legs too.

For loaders I used to wear an 8+1 Uniques harness but now I wear an older Redz 4+1 with 150 round pods, so I'm carrying 600 rounds in a relatively small space. The wide waist band gives you great back support. I made some homebrew mods to it though. First off I'm left handed, so I resewed it so it's bottle left, pods right. It's great that I can refill with just my right hand. Also, I sewed some tabs so I can wear mil spec H back suspenders. The reason I do this is because I also sewed up a quick release to some webbing so that I can hang my gun from my shoulder pads ala Stargate SG1. This way I don't have to disconnect my gun (since I'm going remote) when I want to fill pods or whatever. When I'm ready to rock & roll I can disconnect it in a second.
