basic isn't to bad, depends which one you go to, I was at benning and I heard that was the hardest one. I hear Jackson is the easiest. But just remember pretty much anything they tell you is bull and its just one giant mind game, physically its pretty easy, or at least was for me.

rudz - I'm going to look into the x-mod software

      Hooah!

Yeah, MO "nasty girl" here, welcome to the club, zak. It's not horrible bad, just different from active duty. And usually the sergeants and officers in the NG are much easier to approach than the active stiffs.

rifleman wi - welcome to you too! #1 rule for surviving Army BCT: have fun. It's serious stuff, so pay attention, but come on, where else are you going to get paid to learn to fire several non-civilian weapon systems and blow stuff up with grenades and claymores? (true story: after my Basic stint which included throwing hand grenades, I've never bought fireworks again... they just don't have enough boom for me) But Basic is fun: hiking, camping, working with weapons, learning all kinds of interesting stuff, and you'll come out of it in the best shape of your life. The Drill Sergeants yell at you all the time, but then again, they yell at everyone (including each other) all the time. That's their job: yelling at people. You're not special, they "love" everybody equally. The only suck day I had in Basic was the day we went thru the gas chamber, but the effects aren't permanent, and you will definitely appreciate having a promask after that. Especially if they dose you with 3x the regulated amount, like they did to us. =)
