I don't know jack about Halo...

I am about to play in an scenario based upon "Halo".

Is there somewhere I can read about the Halo world and more specifically about the Spartans?

I read what little was on the MXS site about it, but I am guessing that they assume you have more knowledge about it. I have never played and have a very limited knowledge of what it is beyone a 1st person shooter.

HALO is the ultimate weapon/planet thingy. Master Chief is the main character in the books and the games and he is trying to discover everything about HALO while protecting Earth from the Covenant, the alien dudes. Master Chief is a 'Spartan,' a super-human genetically altered dude. And that should be all you really need to know.

own all 3 and have read them all at least 3 times they are the absolute best way to learn everything backround story halo. if you just need basic info, play halo one, and pay attention to the story and cutscenes. if you have any specific questions, you can either PM me or post them here, im confident i know most/all about the whole story

Really I am looking more for a summary of the whole and some detail about Spartans in general. Apparently there is some animosity between the marines and the Spartans and I would like to understand it just a touch to add to the role I will be playing.

Isn't that what makes scenarios a bit more fun and different from just playing woodsball?

You awake as the master cheif, coming out of a cryogynic freezing. Captain keys tells you that there is a war going on that you must help fight. As the story unfolds you meet the covenent and at first little is known as to why they are attacking humans. We then find out about HALO. They think that it is a god and worship it. The covenent plan to turn it on. The humans find out that it is a super weapon and have to destroy it by any means possible before the Covenent turn it on and wipe out humanity. Also there is a group called the FLOOD. They are little thingies that attach on to dead covenent and human troops to use them like zombies. I don't remember their reason for being there but if your senerio has them they fight against both sides so at one point a 3 way war is being fought.

That about sums it up. I think that was clear.


EDIT(saw your reply): The spartan is a perfect super human with shields and body armor. He has a full life support system and direct link to the super computer(I forget her name). Compared to the marines he is much smarter in the way he does battle(because I controll him) and he can link his supersuit to be one with his weapons.

well the spartans were originally kidnapped children who were kept to be used as the "ultimate soldier" they were trained from the tme they were about 6 to be the best of the best. then they came up with the idea of "the ultimate power armor" more commonly known as the "MODJLR Mk V" the only problem is that it was too powerful, it shattered the bones of normal people because it moved with only the slightest thought of the movement. the super soldiers (spartans) were put under operations making their reaction times ultra-quick and their bones dense as steel. in the new power armor they were sent to fight a new race who happened upon one of earths outer rim colonies who have relentlessly destroyed everything in their path, using supermolten plasma as weapons they "glass" the planets. the humans are far superior in ground engagements, but the new enemy, who call themselves the "covenant" are massivley superior in space combat. our wepaons in space are MAC cannons (magnetic weapon that launches slugs at very high rates, cant remember the abbreveation). the covenant use superheated balls of plasma to annihilate our ships and they themselves are cloaked in enery shield, both their ships and their foot soldiers, making it exceedingly difficult to kill them. in the covenant ground race there are four known in the first halo, the elited, the most humanoid, who are the main commaning officers. then there are the "grunts" who are more or less an annoyance and are small weak and ugly. third there are the jackals, small bird like humanoids who carry plasma pistols and hand held enery shields and are easy to kill, that is once you get by the shields...... lastly there are the hunters, they are exceedngly difficult to kill for they are, more or less, walking tanks.

thats the basic story from the book, if you want the one from the game, ill bring it up.....

Heh I read them all on the way down to oklahoma dday awhile 1 year ago. If I remember right, the first and third were the best

remember to bring your softmods, that way when you are losing you can turn them on and shoot through walls, jump to the other side of the field, and grab flags through the bottom of maps.

halo is this really kick *** video game where you can take out your daily frustrations by shooting people in the face at point blank with a shotgun. or you could wait somewhere with a sniper rifle and shoot people in the back of the head and watch their body flip forward.

and don't forget to hump the dead body you just killed because that person can see it and hear you for the first few seconds and it pisses them off to see you hump them and take their weapons.

and whatever you do, dont forget to yell childish obsanities after the game, because even if you lost by one kill everyone thinks you still got owned.

i know this was of no help to you but its what everyone use the game for.
