I threatened to report him to adobe for selling pirated software. He refunded my money and I proceeded to use the copy he gave me.
funny, i got aftereffects with all the bells and whistles the same way. I just graduated from college, graphic design, so I had access to all the programs neways, but I wanted legit software so I could install it on my work laptop without getting fired. After getting screwed (i did get my money back both times) twice I gave up. I do hope to get legit software in the near future so I can freelance without having to worry about a lawsuit.

Has 99% of what photoshop has, has a few things PS doesn't, and it runs on win, linux, or mac.
Gimp has the exact same wuality output too.

And as an indicator that gimp is mainstream, O'Reilly publishers (those computer geeks) have books out on gimp.
