Would it be better or worse if i ran a pro classic with an anti-siphon CO2 tank and an expansion chamber?

Could I get the Palmers Stabilizer and use a regular CO2 tank?Originally posted by punkncatCan't hurt, but if your anti siphon is working correctly you shouldn't need the X chamber.
An even better idea is to use a Palmers Stabilizer.....

Yes, you can, but why bother adding another regulator to your 'Mag? I would just get the tank anti-siphoned and run it straight to the valve. Just remember to let the tank warm up after a fill and don't leave it in the sun or a closed car.
The thing about Stabilizers is their price. New, they are more expensive than a steel 47ci air tank. Granted, you won't get the number of shots, but I always prefer air over CO2. If air fills are difficult for you and you want to regulate your CO2, I would look into a used Stabilizer or a WGP reg. They handle CO2 just fine, too. No matter what, anti-siphon your tank if you are going to use CO2.

I ran a Classic 'Mag with anti syphon and x-chamber for years without any problems (as long as the temp was higher than 50*f). X-chambers are cheap and good insurance, and make good foregrips too.
There's also an old skool ghetto x-chamber if you're really cheap ... when you connect the tank to the valve get a long hose and make one loop at least. This will work well too keep liquid out of the valve.
You can also mount a bottle verticle from the front ASA if you like the compact feel of it. If you did that you wouldn't need to put in an anti-syphon tube.

anti-siphon
For those unfamilliar with anti-siphon tanks, DO NOT get a full fill in them. If you have a 20 Oz tank, get about 16 ounces in it. this gives the anti-siphon tube a space to not feed liquid directly into the line.

I recently put a Palmers Stabilizer on my mag. It's the "male" version, and I screwed it into a vertical adapter where a foregrip would go. I debated for a while between spending the money on the Stab, or getting an x-chamber. I'm glad I got the Stab. It's not yet broken in, but I'm getting VERY good consistency at the chrono, no shootdown, and certainly no frosty gun. I've also got a well-made anti-siphon installed on my 20-oz, where the tube just goes in the bottle and curls right up into the top corner/shoulder area of the bottle. Lovin' it all around. Someday I'll post a pic...

CO too
Palmer Stab is deffinately nice if you got the money for them. I used to run a kind of odd sidecar setup on the drop forward of one of th eoriginal matrix markers. I literally could empty a 20oz through that thing, and never frost more than the stabalizer.
If you look around, you can get the Female palmer wiht cage and mount it right under your grip frame like a dovetail CA adapter, they work awesome.
I always wonder if a similar setup would allow the Ion to shoot similarly

CO2 bad
Anti-syphon directly to the valve is the best option...but the danger is that as you move the gun around some liquid could get in. The second best option would be to vertically mount the tank or wear it on your back vertically mounted.
An expansion chamber would be good insurance for either of those two options, especially if you play in colder climates.
I disagree with purchasing any kind of regulator, the valve is it's own regulator and there's really no need to regulate the gun twice unless your shooting LP which the Mag can't do. It's arguable whether a regulator chokes the flow any more than an expansion chamber, I think it does by the nature of it's operation, others disagree. I also think that paying double the price for a regulator (over an expansion chamber) is silly...but again, others disagree.
