RRFireBlade (or anyone that might know)

I just found one of my old APG magainzes from June of 1996. In it there is a nice Micromag add and in the corner there it says:

"Optional ACCURIZER Titanium Nitrade Coated, Anti-Stick, Foamiless Venturi Bolt For All Mags"

The picture of the bolt is gold and the rear of it (that rest against the bumper) looks like it has a cross hair milled into it. I dont rember seing this bolt before and dont belive it is the standard "venturi" bolt. I was just wondering if there was any info on this.

It was a Titanium Nitrade Coated, Anti-Stick, Foamiless Venturi Bolt For All Mags.

    :)

PTP made it as a Venturi option back when (slightly before actually) it was the 'in' thing to do.

The coating made it slicker and increased wear resistance. I still have a bunch of them laying around. Besides the coating , they aren't any real difference from a non foamy long nose L7 bolt. They look neater tho. :)

ohhh. TiN coated bolts....Talk about a pain in the sears butt. Wouldn't a TiN bolt wear a sear very fast?

        I want one!

I don't know , didn't seem to. Nothing really special about them , maybe just as a Mag parts collectable or something.

Thanks for the info on them RRFireblade. I was first supprised to find that magazine, I guess I mis judged when I first got into paintball, and then was very supprised to see how many ads was in it selling automags, seems like every other page had a price listed on a classic mag, minimag, and micromag. That bolt really caught my eye. Just currious, how much did it weight compared to a stock level 7 bolt?

It would weigh the same as ant venturi most likely. A TiN coating is way less than a thou thick. You might be able to measure it with an analytical balance.

The truth is, you can get any industrial coating company to put a TiN coating on things that are steel. It doesn't change dimensions, at least not any more than anodizing.
I wanted to TiN coat my whole mag at one point for the gold look, then use a WS2 (tungstun disulfide) coat on the whole internals to reduse friction to litterally near zero! Tell me that mag wouldn't be sweet.

Just think...a WS2 inner coated barrel. Near Zero Friction. You could probably shoot a closer match and never have a barrel break.

EDIT: Jay, can you PM me about obtaining an ACCURIZER bolt? BTW, I love my MOTM T-shirt (I slept in it). accurizer bolts should be a MOTM prize as well, starting last month of course

Yeah , that's it. It's cross hatched on the back side to break surface tension/stiction with the bolt bumper for less chance of bolt stick.

Thats the bolt that came on my first automag in the mid 90s. The gun was a blender and I hated it until a friend at the field gave me his stock level 7 after he upgraded to a ANS foamie bolt. The stock level 7 made it a different gun, one that was usable.
