    Macro Line VS. Braided Cable

    Hey Mag lovers,

could someone either tell me the advantages of shoot me a link to a post to the advantages/disadvantaes of using macroline vice the high pressure stainless braided lines?
I am guessing one of the major ones is proce, but other than that help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers!

    Macro:
Weighs less (with macro fittings included)
Quick-Disconnect ability already standard with macro fittings
    Easy to replace the macroline
Can cut to whatever length is needed

    Braided:
    Rated at higher pressures
More flexible, less likely to put a kink in the bends
Stronger and more well protected against tearing/puncturing
Will rarely ever need to be replaced

if you want cool colros get macro, if you want to put the line on the gun leave it alone and never have it break get SS

also get ss if you plan on using inputs over900~ psi.

macro gets ugly when it burst at high pressures.

Oh fuzzy slippers!, im running 1000psi through my Macro line hook up. I have a retro valve, should i drop the psi?

P.S. sorry for not starting my own thread.

You're new here, so this will be a warning...your one and ONLY warning...We do not cuss here on AO, re-read the rules. Yes, we actually enforce those rules YOU AGREED TO FOLLOW. Do not use symbols instead of letters, do not tell me "all you see is asterix's, so how is that cussing?", do not argue the point. Live it, love it, become one with the AO Army

          braided mon

Number of macro fittings I have had fail - at least 30
Number of macro lines I have had fail - 4

Number of braided fittings I had had fail - 1 it split down the middle when I overtightened
Number of braided lines I had had fail - 0

Braided line coated with either radioshack shrink rap, Rogues Pre-coated line, or some of the stuff LouisVI sells is your best/safest bet. Especially if you are pumping 800+ psi though it.

If you are running a cocker or lower pressure gun, the Macro seems to work perfectly fine, but I think the fittings have a problem at higher pressure.

i would reccomend switching to SS, you can leave it but remember over time macro degrades and each eyar it can hold less and less psi until it will eventualy break.

do so at your own risk, while its doubtful youl lose an eye or something, the line can whipe around and break skin

shrink wraped SS lines (esspecialy the mag smiths line) looks alot better then macroline on ANY gun.

Macro line looks cheap, is cheap, and performs cheaply.

SS you will never have to worry about and it looks alot better on mags IMO

If it hurts less then a paintball to the ribs from 2ft away then ill be good. So do you recommend changing the macro lines every year? Because I had a classic Mag with braided lines/fittings and the fittings were a ***** to take off. I love the simplicity of a macro line system.

                  rubber coated ss FTW.

SS line also flows alot better and is the line of choice @ high pressures and speeds.

I had a macro line blow about six inches from my right ear. It finally stopped ringing after TWO weeks

Then, I ordered a crap load of braided

Anyone have suggestions on how to remove a macroline fitting from an hpa tank if the fitting is entirely rounded off?

                        ouch my sac

Most painfull Macro experience was when I had a macro fitting fail on my sniper pump gun. It was a warm day, and I was running CO2. I was sititng in a chair waiitng for the game to start and had the gun on my lap. Fitting blew, the line whipped and tagged me right in the sack....wow did that hurt!!!!

as far as takign rounded fitting off - vice grips ( as stated ) crush it with a pair of channel locks and use leverage to get to take it off

I have seen macro break before but never SS. Though if you have a setup that will remain the same for a long time go for hardline Very durrable. So far SS has been good to me though. It is nice haveing the QD's. I only wish I had the money to buy more length of it.

If you use the RIGHT macro line, you will never have a problem with it.

Our local shop replaces ALL the line that comes on any gun with parker line rated at 1000+ psi (you can look at the line, and see a difference in wall thickness).

I have never had any problems with this stuff no matter what temperature I'm running it at.

I personally love macro line because of it's ease of use. You don't have to worry about ordering a custom length so you don't have slop in the line like SS.

In the end though, its all personal preference. If you choose macro, by ALL MEANS, buy GOOD LINE rated at 900+ PSI.

                            That is all,

Are you refering to heat shrink tubing for electrical applications? Can you please send a URL for the mag smiths line? Besides the look, the heat shrink tubing perform a secondary function? That sounds like a sweet Idea, Hats off to the guy who came up with that use. Thanks to all who posted on this thread, looks like I am sticking with SS, maybe here in a bit try out the heat shrink tubing.
