    Viking Info Help

Well im gonna be getting a viking soon and i havnt really found a good source for info on them anywhere. The AKA forums on PBN and AKA Owners are pretty much dead. Since a lot of the users on this forum are more "old school" i figured this may be the best place to go.

Basically what i need is some general info on them. I already know what threads they take, how to oil them, etc. Im just wondering if there is any info i should know that isnt necessarily common knowledge. The more info the better since im somewhat new to them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ive got an '03 viking half-milled and it's the best gun ive ever shot. I personally take one of these over a timmy or shocker or something close to it's price range. The milling capabilites is unbeatable and i love it. Also the effeciency is awesome, im running right around 73 psi and get almost a case off a full 68/45 fill. Trust me, you wont regret it. Where are you getting it from? I got mine off of pbn.

Aka owners is pretty dead, but the aka section on pbn is very active. You'll find anything you need there. Very informative group.
I have recently bought a Viking and an Excal. They have ended my gun whoring days. I have been in search of the perfect gun (for me) and now I have found them. I just cant decide which one I like better.

        Threads- Cocker
How to oil- Put three drops of a synthetic air tool oil in your ASA. Dry fire Viking to cycle the oil.
Velocity Adjustment- back out the screw on the Sidewinder to increase pressure. When it is flush, you should be at about 280 FPS.

They are very simple to deal with.

Loud - I got it from Spartan.

Bravo - Excals are nice but the limited milling options, higher cost (in most cases) and other factors turned me away from them.

wen - Thanks for the velocity info.

If i have any specific questions ill be sure to ask. Im confident that this will be the best marker purchase i have ever made.

I've found that basicly, you know everything you need to know already. Find out about the specific board you're buying, it will probably be the most complex part of the whole marker. Otherwise, oil it sometimes, make sure it's shooting at the right velocity at the beginning of the day, and you're set.
Oh, and cleaning, while reccommended, is not required.
you know you play this game too much when the neighbors stop fixing their broken windows...

tadao is a HUGE plus! I have WAS2.0 and it still rips. It's got 3 modes (semi, psp, and nxl). But that's all you really need.

Pneu - Yeah, i was looking around and it seems to be the best option for vikings board wise. I coulda saved a few bucks and went with WAS but didnt. WAS is still really nice though. I saw some of your posts in the AKA forum on PBN so i knew youd prob post in here soon. lol

You should be ready to roll then. First time out, if you experience any problems with the eyes not sensing the paint, then you may have rollback. Some 04's had this problem. However, earlier markers did not.

Essentially, it is due to a weak rear detent. basically, a ball is forced via a Halo/Reloader/Vlocity past the rear detent; thus, the ball is positioned behind the eye and it is no longer seen. Now, there are several ways to fix this. First, because you have a Tadao board, you will be able to hold the trigger down for 2 (or it may be 1/2) seconds to force a shot. So if it is a one time thing, you do not have to do any silly programming to fix it quickly. Also, if you hold the trigger down long enough, you can quickly disable the eyes. Secondly, you can perform Froth's O-ring Mod. Basically, this "mod" functions like an adjustable ram cap, as seen on Ego's and Timmys'. It pushes the bolt forward about 1/16", thus, preventing rollback. A third fix would be to get quad detents installed, which costs about $75 from DC. It adds two more detents to the other side of the body. You can check DC's site for the exact cost.

Now, with all that said, you may never experience rollback. It is not all too common. I only experienced it once and only for about a half hour. Some times I would just push the bolt forward a tiny bit and it would work for the next five minutes. Then I got lazy and turned off the eyes.

If you search AKAO, you will be able to find a tutorial on Froth's O-ring Mod. It is quite simple.

Also, if you do not have an 04, you will not experience any of the aforementioned issues.

I think the milling options for Vikings and Excals are about the same now days. Its either Destructive Customs or Destructive Customs for either gun.
Tarantiala said that they can do either one also.
