Man you've had some bad experiences. Sounds like a bad coincidence though, I've owned several Inline systems and haven't had any poppet problems. Additinoally the vertical Max-Flos ont he Shocker and Nerve all use the same design. If it were that problematic then we'd know about it.
(poppets are $25 to replace, not $36, still expensive but hopefully you won't have to do that).

but yes the on/off can be troublesome. The shaft likes to bend to the side when you turn it on and if that happens it sucks a hole out of the o-ring holding airflow shut. You can try SLIGHTLY beveling the edge with a razor, that's usually what I do, and it helps a lot.

Beware... I was really disappointed with my first few not because of the reg but because my x-valve isnt very reactive, never has been. rarely could I get say 1200 psi to do anything more than 850psi. though you may get lucky.

When they have that reg tested tell them to cycle the on/off alot under pressure.

In the manifold (the type pictured a few posts up) you will have alot of problems with the on/off post and o-ring. it was designed poorly and needs modification to work properly. Another problem that i have encounterd is that alot of them will blow their reg seat piston, which is a 3 peice assembly that is useless to try and rebuild. you have to get a new one and at $35 for that part I never felt it worth it, cause it will blow again and again. other than that, they use all standard o-rings. a well supplied paintball shop should carry all of those o-rings. The old ones can handle the pressure no problem, the new ones in my experience cannot.

-Im always out to make a buck, so LMK if this would be something you would be interested in. Im getting a classic R/T this weekend, so i want to try it on that, But if its not to my liking, it's going up for sale.
So you're sayin I should get yours instead?

          .
true. but they dont have on/off's and they dont deal with the uber high 3 or 4.5k pressure straight from the tank, then only reg it to the 1k+ that we want them to do.

and your right they are $25, my bad.

I have the Max-Flo reg as you have shown and I have had to replace the on/off O ring twice, no problem with the correct tools and is quick to do. The main body actually cracked on mine and was swapped over without a single winge by Smart Parts. Mine is the HP version as when I bought it the LP spring pack wasn't going to be made, but LP to Smart Parts is different to all other reg makers, my marker needs a LP pressure input and the Max-Flo I have is perfectly capable of going down low enough for my Angel Speed even though officially the reg is the HP version.
Granted I tend to take good care of my gear but I haven't had to do anywhere near the lubing etc that I did on the old stepped manifold version, so I honestly can't see where the comments of this particular reg needing extra attention come from
I would fully reccomend this reg over any other currently on the market.

I assume you're talking about the newer version, the first shown on that post? Because I don't really to whom you refer when you say: "I have the Max-Flo reg as you have shown [...]"
                  Thanks.
