Am I an Elite?

You're average for someone who has played the game for a little while. You can't really classify someone based on how they play at one specific time on one day. How do we know the "other team" wasn't some disabliity center taking their kids in wheel chairs to have fun?

Most of what seems to classify people is what they think in their own head. Why would AO make you a badge? Would you like a

FlawleZ is right... if your opposing team is made out of newbs, you'll cut trough them like butter without any effort. But if your opponents are equally or better skilled than you it would sure be elite. Although i personally don't care about being the 1337 player, it sure is sathisfactory to outsmart 4-5 players of your same skill level.

Hey yea! Did anyone see Don Miguel on ESPN2 on Friday? Man he was killing Rocky Knuth and the Dogz. Don Miguel is such a good player omfgzorz. He is teh true ub3r |33t pro star guy. Dude one time I saw him make this ridiculous move when there was a guy at the X on the 50 and Don Miguel flew over the X while doing a barrel roll and forward flip at the same time and he totally poned that noob. Seriously I have it on tape lmk if anyone wants it, I can sell copies.

SCPoloRicker - Why are you being mean to me. I am not related to Don Miguel. I only try to understand his situation at times and help him. But if you continue to hurt my feelings I will have no choice, but to write your name on every one of my paintballs just for you..

No offence but I actually hate classifying people. I have played paintball since the mid 80's when the first pgp's came out, but I still don't consider myself any better then a person who is just playing their first game. We are all out there for the love of the sport and that should be enough. Just my two cents worth.

You are right. I don't ever think that i am so much better than anyone else. Infact it is when I treat my opponents with all the respect that I play better. I was just trying to start an interesting thread, but it is starting to turn around an bite me in the ***.

There's 3 types of players - and everyone was a noob once

Comers and goers are just like the name suggests. They play for awhile, get hooked for a bit and just stop playing after a short bit never to return. Just about anyone could be a comer or goer. They can be an effective player, or running target. A young person or old, have good gear or rent, it realy doesn't matter.

Recballers are generally the guys that have played awhile and do it for fun. They enjoy the competition and don't get hung up on the details. Once again... there are many recballers that are or aren't effective. They may invest alot of time/money or not. They are the weekend warriors that enjoy the sport as a hobby.

Professionals are the people that we not only see on TV and such, but the people that do it purely for the competition. They are the people worried about being the best at the expense of fun in a game. Whether or not they're effective or not at scoring eliminations is not really a factor for a professional. An example of the unskilled professionals would be these AGGers that roll out every weekend. They may be on a team, or be in a small group just out there just to dominate the locals all the time. These types of players only see winning as fun at all costs, and unless very skilled, won't have a good time.

IMO: There are many levels of skill and effectiveness in each category. Some people have a better time at scoring eliminations than others, but this in no way means that just because someone has certain attributes that they are "elite" and mightier than everyone else. There are very skillfull newbs, intermediate, and older players out there... some players are naturally good. A certain type of gun (as companies can suggest), "pro" gear, long period of play, stature, finger speed, attractiveness, eliminations, length of masculine endowment, or any combination of the above does not make you "elite"

I would consider an elite player is one:
Who plays seriously, fairly, and has fun while doing so - win or loss. (obviously winning can be more enjoyable)
Who is experienced, mature, and knows the idiosyncrasies of the game and leads by example
Who gives 110% towards thier teams objectives while realizing it's still a game for BOTH TEAMS and treats his opponent with respect, deserved or not. (It is not difficult to exhibit both aggression and sportsmanship simultaneously)
Who realizes no matter who the competition is, there is always room to learn and improve their own skill as well helping improve the competitions' skill.

Obviously, some players naturally do better than others, but a good player takes advantage of his/her skill set for the benefit of whole of the team. A poor shooter may be a good scout/communication/strategist/cover fire/etc. No matter how godlike a player may seem, they too will have hot streaks and cold streaks. Remeber, it only take one shot to get out.

I personally would not consider myself a "Noob" nor a "1337". I've played on and off for about 10 years. Never played in a serious tourney, and have my fair share of high end guns, and use an old mask from 1995. When I go out, I think of myself just as being there when I play. Pick me or don't, it doesn't matter - I'll still have a good time. More often than not i get more than my fair share of eliminations, sometimes I get none... it happens. However, I don't go out there expecting to rule. There's a fine line between "aggressive" and "arrogant" and I know which one of those players I would rather play with
