Ion's (stock) can be had at 100$ and are better than anything produced 5 years ago.
Eyes are common on everything (you will never see a marker without anymore, save for mags)
Dm4's cost about 350 if you can haggle.
Shockers (which I used to consider uber high end when I was young at pb) are commonly going for 450 to 400 on pbn.

Alot of kids with alot of money. Some of the best markers ever are being sold dirt cheap (200$ for a Gen E matrix with Tadao board and all sorts of upgrades...but it has no eyes so no one wants it) but some retain their resale (Vikings, Emags, all the old stuff the agg kids don't want)

Hey the emag was produced 5 years ago!!!!!!

Thank you all so much for these replies, it has really given me a good feelling of what is going on in paintball.

Despite many of the anti SP sentiments, which I agree with, the Impulse may be had for very cheap. I am currently looking at a number of those, along with some cheap mechanical cockers, vikings, and other guns I once hoped of owning...

on a side note... MOST guns made with in the last few years will ONLY take HPA (compressed air) so when buying a fancy new gun wich you can easily get dirt cheap just remember to factor in the cost of a new tank. a nice carbonfiber wrapped tank can be picked up in teh $150 range easily.

You must remember, that's just my opinion. I love my 'Mag. It's upgradable, reliable, easy to maintain, and very easy to modify and customize (though pricey at times). That's why I love it. There are plenty of other great guns out there, I know that. But no other gun I've ever owned can compare to my Automag (well, semi-auto wise). It just has something the others don't, at least to me. I recommend it over all.

But then, I do love Shoebox Shockers, my '03 Shocker, Gen-E Matrixes, a handful of 'Cockers, etc. I'm on my way to being a gun whore.

Semi wise for me, it's the Automag. Pump wise, Sheridan all the way!
Being on AO doesnt mean anything really, there are just a larger number of mag users here than anywhere else. Mags are great but i wouldnt consider them the best guns made.

                  Hater in the house!

This thread makes the gun whore in me (that I have tried to beat down, tie a concrete block to and throw into a lake) wake up and say, "hey didn't we always want to pick up a Viking?" :)

BAD GUN WHORE! I'm still paying the credit card bill from the past 2 years of gun whoring...I'd like to actually use money to PLAY paintball rather than designing plans for the mega-gun cabinet that I need to build in the garage to house all my markers.

That being said...my wish list does still include:
                  Ion
(hey, they're going to kick me off PBNation if I don't buy one soon!)
                  A-5
(hey, once enough people shoot me with them playing scenario...I start to think maybe I should at least get one just to see if maybe it's the gun! )
                  Viking
(All I've heard is good things...could never dream of affording one back in the day)
                  X-Mag
(My holy grail...which means I'll probably never get it...or I'll get it and Smart Parts will send men in black suits to my house, beat me, and take it away)

You are perfectly correct. They might not be the "best guns made", but they very well might be the "guns made best".

My primary Mag has about 13 years of hard use on the rail & body. It has been through several world cups, a few IAOs and probably 50+ regional tourneys (all that before 2001). Now we only see scenario or rec-ball duty together.
