Does a WGP sniper need at reg?? Solve my discussion

Ok I know this is not an autococker forum, but I just wanted to get clarification on one thing. My friend recently bought a pump kit for his autococker and bought a $85.00 CP regulator for his project. Before he installed it I argued that he needed a gas thru. When he installed it, it did not shoot and we found that the air pressure coming out of the reg was very low (I assume that is what regs do.) My friends then started adjusting it so that no air would be blocked when going through the reg and it worked. Is this not a gas thru?
Am I right or am I wrong? Is there anything missing in this equation?

    Tank pressure is 800 psi.

It depends what springs are in it. If you have light springs and the pressure set really high then you'll get low velocity from the valve not opening or closing too fast.

if the reg is adjusted correctly, and the hammer and valve springs are a good match, the marker will work nicely.

If he was running un-regged air into the marker, his springs mustve been crazy, and all too firm to work with a lower pressure.

You can run a sniper pump on HP air without a secondary reg. If you are using Co2 I highly recomend it.

Sounds like the reg was just set too low to operate the gun. You can also change the valve spiring to a very light one that will allow it to shoot with less input pressure.

Light mainspring, heavy valve spring, low imput pressure

Is the autocker turned pump not a WGP sniper? What is the operating pressure of a cocker that does not need pneumatics? Sorry for so many questions I am an Automag major.

              Technically, a pump'd sniper = Sniper II

Though, WGP did make a sniper I, II, and III

                maybe

what is the year of the body?

99 and before need no reg becasue the way they are set up they need a lot of psi going into them

00 and after do not becasue they way they are set up

now you can get 2000+ to run unreged but the springs need to be changed from stock.

i have a 2k body i built a sniper2 on and i use a female stab into a gas thru and im running it at 220 psi. my friend has gotten his cocker to run at 70spi (yes i said 70 and yes it shot at full velecioty). others need to put 350 in, some need to put 500ish so it really depends on the slightest change in springs, resevoir, flow, etc etc

You can full pressure into ANY cocker, just need the proper springs for the setup you choose. I prefer a reg on my snipers, but thats just me.....LOL.

The normal starting point I use for any cocker/sniper is around 350psi. Search around and find the breakdown of how to "sweet spot" you reg/valve combo. Every gun is slightly different in what it wants/needs.

Crikey! Paid a bit much, IMO. Anyway, all the 'cockers and pumps I have bought or made have all performed their best around 300psi. For the record, I have also always used WGP valves and hammers. It's been so long since I changed anything on mine I don't remember the springs in them.
