I'm ordering more Argon and Liquid N2 today for experiments. I am so tempted to throw LOX on the list. A low pressure 180 liter dewar (the bulk LOX tank) is only $40. Not like I'm paying for it. I think my boss might ask me WTF i was doing though... with the carcoal and matchs in the office.

BTW... if any of you are wondering, AIRgas from Akron fills our nitrogen 80CF tanks (scubas) for only $20. I feel ripped off @ $5 per fill @ my paintball shop now.

^ pneumagger where do you work where you can order liquid oxygen? I would love to get some (along with nitroglycerin and some other items ) but from wha ti can tell i would either have to have some sort of permit or get them illegally, neither of which i could do. Also, i doubt my mom would be happy with me blowing up even more powerful substance, my limit is gunpowder right now and she isn't very happy about that

          Lockheed Martin.

Even if I ordered it... I'd never get it out the door. The dewar is bigger than me. It's not like LOX can go in ur pocket either.

          MAKE YOUR OWN LOX:
Liquid Nitrogen is colder than LOX! I don't believe you need a liscense for LN2 due to it's inert nature. So you could concievably create a LOX condenser by condesing a source of pure O2 through coils submerged in LN2. It will create less LOX than LN2 consumed due to insulation inefficiency and LOX having a higher Latent Heat of Vaporization.
          ... but I digress

^^^^I have got agree. Oxygen is a corosive element in concentration and it is used as rocket fuel. I can imagine the chemical reaction of polar lipids being beaten by a huge amount of lox and the metabolic rate of the tissues dropping and the enzymes requiring for act. energy and eeeeeeewww...

Yep, got that right. In fact, it is one of the two fuel components for the shuttle's main engine. There is a quasi-joke here at KSC (not told in the presence of the astronauts) that they are sitting on the worlds biggest bomb.
