We need a new style for paintball

While most suggestions have been to the rediculous, how about a serious alternative to the "paintball" look?

I've been wearing my old rugby jersey each time I've paintballed lately.

The PBN kiddies have mocked the suggestion, and it's been put-down on AO too I beleive.

But, I prefer the look, the protection of thicker material, and if you want to outfit a team you can customise the colours and patterns.

I defer to your knowledge of what he wore in La La land. I only saw him in Pittsburgh 96 or 97 (not sure the year) He wore a black jacket, walmart special type, with black slacks and huge black shoes or booties...

No, no, no, you're alright; that's not what I was saying. His suit was grey "back in the day". I added a few bright colored spots to it every now and then.

we got away from having colorful military uniforms in favor of camo. well speedball has done the reverse of that...

I agree with the possibility of a different look or altering the equipment to make it beneficial to your game. I just think it's a little too much when people show up in Blues Brothers outfits or dressed like surgeons or in bunny suits or kilts. Again, unless wearing a bunny suit somehow improves your game...why not save the "humor" for when you're all gathered in the dead zone.

Don't get me wrong...I'm not trying to say you need to take paintball seriously...I've actually argued that many kids today take it too seriously . I just think there's a line that can be drawn between humorous and stupid and dressing like Chewbacca is probably too far towards stupid...again, unless dressing that way gives you some type of advantage.

Frank Zappa once asked if humor belongs in music...I say why not in paintball! Its all about fun right!?! If somebody gets a laugh out of dressing up funny - Who freakin' cares

Anyway, years ago, a guy who worked/played at my home field also worked for a park district. They had this realistic looking gorilla suit. It was killer. This guy played ball for ISU and was like 6'5" and over 225lb i'd say. BIG guy. We always wanted to get him to dress up and hide out in the field during our end of year big game. Man that would have been too much.

Picture some guys playing in the middle of the woods when a giant sasquach jumps out and starts going crazy. I crack up just thinking about it. :rofl:

Am I the only one that thinks that is sort of stupid?

I play outdoors, wear camo, wear stuff that keeps me cool but helps me blend in to the surroundings. Dressing up like it's Halloween on the crazy farm never occurred to me. Now, in speedball, I guess it's different...camo probably useless...but I think you still want something that's lightweight, cool in the summer, maybe padded to give you some bounce, and low profile. Putting on a bannana suit is probably not the best idea ever come up with. Doesn't make sense to me.

well if injecting some kind of spontaneous element of joviality into the sport doesn't make sense to you, then what does?!

no really though, these guys aren't playing in tournaments to pay the bills, they're just going out lookin for a good time. I think a banan suit is a grand idea

Still don't see how dressing like a fool and getting shot out immediately increases the fun factor of the game...but I guess that's because my sense of humor allows me to make people laugh without resorting to Benny Hill antics.
