I just bought a used mini-mag with an ans valveback and I was wondering what kind of efficiency I could expect out of it with Co2 on the field? OR if I should use HPA because co2 will be bad for the valve. I have two 20oz tanks, a 3.5 oz tank, a 68/4500 hpa, and I was thinking about borrowing a 7/9/12 oz, or a couple, from friends to use on this little guy. Any help would be appreciated!

co2 sucks, it's okay to use w/ a minimag valve but it's inconsistant. hp tanks are 50$ now cheapest. oh yeah not trying to be a flamer but use the search bar before posting a new thread. i make that mistake sometimes.

Not all are of that opinion.Originally posted by donco2 sucks
Here's what Craig Palmer has to say about it:
I don't know if there is any truth behind that, but I wanted to throw that out there.CO2 is just a better gas in ideal conditions. HPA expands faster than CO2. CO2 has better properties for launching the ball because it expands slower. When in colder temps, HPA properties stay more consistent, rather than loosing some of its expansion rate due to cold temps.
If you want to use co2 on a classic mag, go ahead. Although you ought to get you tank anti-siphoned, have it mounted vertically, or use a remote.
And remember, automags came out before the widespread use of HPA.

On my minimag I could only run co2 on the vert bottle setup. Running bottom line with an expansion chamber led to me killing some level 10 orings.
For a pistol like mag I would mount a quick disconnect onto the valve itself going out backwards and a remote up your arm to it. That would be shwank.
For a regular set up though a 68/45 really isn't that bad. I ran a 92/45 on a duckbill and had no problems what so ever with it being too big.
