    Tippmann X7

Anyone shot one of these ?
I heard the Egrips supposed to be out for it this month.
They are touting it as the A5's big brother.
I had several A5's and didnt like them. I thought they were way too heavy.
The basic marker is cheap enough but .......
If you have held one or shot one post your opinions.

Isn't it just a composite bodied 98? Wasn't this the thing I saw linked a while back that is available in red and blue on a grey/black plastic shell?

They've got 'em at my local pro shop. They're pretty nifty. Think of an A5 with a Tac body. The shroud has a two pin system so any aftermarket shroud will literally just slide and lock on. So, it's pretty much scenario ready.

Another cool thing is the safety. Yes, the safety is really cool. Tippmann made a good call moving from a push button to a rotating lever, like a real gun. I honestly think that's the coolest feature.

Other than that, it's a Tippmann. Compatible with A5 (I think) parts and such. It kicks the same and it'll last forever.

Yep, they're compatible. A-5 threaded barrels and everything, even various parts. Some people are ordering the X-7 cyclone parts for their A-5 to speed it up.

seen it at the store haven;t checked it out yet, looks really nifty for scenaripo players, it was made with Spec-ops help so expect to see all their mods fit on it perfectly, like I already know the air through stocks will work and everything will be routed internally, no macroline from the stock to the tombstone.

                  I forgot something!

The magazine comes off and opens up to carry different parts onto the field. Kinda illegal, but still kinda nifty. So the electro shooters will ramp, and the X7 owners will just up their velocity.

                  Whatever.

                  (Note: that was generalized sarcasm)

I played with one last Saturday for about an hour walk on at my field. A friend wanted me to give him my thoughts.

It's lighter than I thought and felt good. I too like the change in the safety. It was LOUD! Louder than an a5. It had a 4" stiffi on it at the time which added to that I'm sure. Accuracy was so so. I did have some paint chops. The magazine kept falling out. It was so bad the owner even told me if I lost it on the field not to worry about it. Yes, we had it in all the way. I would rather have a rifle style for grip there than the magazine.

My final conclusion on the marker after playing with it myself is if milsim is your thing then it's going to be the one of the best options. I had an a5 and for the diff in the price I'd get an a5 first if I wanted another tippmann.

But if milsim doesn't matter, get something that is dependable, won't have parts fall off while playing and is a lot more accurate.

                    Like a mag.

When I went back out with my etac.. well... I couldnt ever imagine buying an x7.

Well I wouldnt even think about comparing a 275.00 marker to a 850.00 marker.

I had a 98 for years and like it but the A5 was just too heavy.
I have all the Emags and such but I was thinking about getting an X7 with an Egrip and Flatline just to see what they were all about. I picked up an Ion just to see what it was about.
Both my sons liked the Ion. But I'm not going to compare the Ion to my Emag either.

The biggest problms the X-7's seem to be having are with braking paint and general fit 'n finish issues. The Tippmann owners are considering this part of the "6 month shake down" for the gun.

Apart from that, mostly strong reviews from the X7. It really is a bigger A-5 though with some cosmetic and material upgrades.

I.E. Stiffer cylcone wratchet, magnesium reciever halves, selector switch style safety (that ones really cool IMO), and the capacity to change barrel shrouds more or less at the drop of a hat vs. the A-5's bolt on appearance mods which tend to give up some functionality of the gun for looks.

So, come on back in June, see how things are going, I'm sure that people will be going ga-ga over the X7 once the issues are wrestled into submission.

Oh yeah, and don't mess with the Flatline. Stick with a straight pipe and call it good. (That's a personal bias I have to admit)

It's the truth. Flatlines suck. I used one for a year and it was nothing but garbage. I mean when you had it fitted on the gun JUST RIGHT, it would shoot ok. Not great, just so so. And that was a hassle and a half. It's innacurate, tempermental with different paint, the wind affects it no matter how little a gust it is, and it's a pain to clean. If you do break a ball in it, the already shoddy accuracy is just ruined. Flatline = POS

I wouldn't go that far. The barrel is actually pretty good, but the learning curve on "propper and effective" usage is pretty steep and they're pretty picky about what paint is put through them. For ease of use I don't like them, but there are guys who do take the time and energy to work with them and have reasonably good results.

Good point but I thought the average x7 was going to cost around 400 bucks? I've got a second emag I got for 400 dollars. Of course it was used as opposed to new.

                              Anyway...

as to the fit and finish, the look is good, but when you look close it does show some problems. The ball sitting in the breach will rock back and forth. We were pretty sure that was causing most of the ball breaks. Some times with a clean barrel the shots would curve left and right alternately. I was using the same paint I used in my mag withno problems.

If they can solve the chops having an egrip on one wouldn't be too bad.
