    HPA questions

Just had a couple easy questions. I ended up finally picking up an hpa tank for my mag.....got a DXS 48/4500 stubby. It seems really nice but I had a few questions. First the guy at the shop noted that when screwing it on I should screw it in and then back it out until I hear an audible click (I assume this is the pin in the reg seating). Has anyone ever heard of this procedure? I hadn't, but this is my first non-borrowed or rented marker. Second, I noticed that there are small bubbles inside of the epoxy of the wrap around the tank (mostly around the neck) is that normal? It isn't a manufacturing defect is it? Finally one time when I screwed in the tank a bit too far i reckon, it began to leak until it was completely removed and reinserted. Any idea why? Thanks....sorry for all the questions but hpa has always scared the hell out of me and I don't want to screw it all up. : )

Have fun running to get air all the time!! A 48 ci tank will not go too far with a mag. I hope you can have it filled to 4500. I have never had to back any of my tanks out, I just screw them in and go.

I would not worry about the small bubbles in the top coat. It is not structural and it passed inspection to get certified anyway. The only suggestions I would have is maybe you have a weird asa. If not I would not worry about it either.

Bubbles in the coating of the tank is fine. Its just a resin coating to keep the fibre from unraveling.

The bottle should be useable when screwed into the ASA as far as it will go. When you screw the bottle into the ASA, you will get to a point where the pin will get depressed and the gun will charge. You will here a click as the mag trigger goes forward. At this point you should be able to screw the bottle farther into the ASA. It should probably go less than a full turn past this point. If the bottle turns farther, then you risk pinching off the air with the same pin. There should not be any leaks as you go farther into the ASA. This would indicate a flaw or dirt of some sort in the ASA.

The tank should always be tight in the ASA when in use.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

I figured out why it was leaking....looks like a faulty o-ring on the tank so when I screwed it in all the way it was crimping it somewhat and leaking. Anyone know what kind of orings the regs use for an hpa tank?

The same ones as the CO2 bottles use. They are all the same.
