AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Biggest hold up now is the custom solenoid and actuator I have sent to be made in SC.
They have the designs and what I need for a maximum measurement, but other than that I am waiting just like you for more news.
If you want some "un-offical & dont quote me on this or hold me to it" prices I can give you a figure run to wet a whistle or two. (more than likely your not going to like the prices!)
Actually, let me say a few thigs about how this kit works before I get into the prices. Im a bit of a scatter brain, Im not home at of yesterday, and I have some personall issues to attend to over the weekend,.. so dont shoot me over my ramblings!!
The kit will be a hot swapable concept. Meaning that my idea was to take components from BOTH the EP-Kit and the E-Kit and make the parts work with both. So when you see a price for say,.. the wire harness. The price might be higher because I gave extra wire, crimps, pre-fabed the conections, color-coded for ease of installation, etc. Keep in mind that the kits work not just on one frame,.. they work on at LEAST 3. Making parts that are to this nature (like the custom solenoid I have being made) may cost double the price of a solenoid and an actuator. But it means that there is no reason to mill your frame, modify the valve, drill, or other wise mame your frames. These designs cost money,.... money I have sunk into the project already. So with that being said,... here are the "un-offical" prices given that I have made at least one type of EP Kit.
Controller board w/ fire modes: $150-200 (sold as an individual item)
Daughter board: $100 (slave to controller board; upgrades more than 1 gun)
EP Noid: $100 (actuator and solenoid?; just actuator?; just solenoid?) <---- I dont have these yet so I cant tell you what they are going to be.
Wire Harness: $100 (connectors; eyes; switches; LED; color coded; etc) <--- all plug and play, no soldering; may be gun specific.
Now,.. before you freak out on the prices, let me help you better understand why I just posted alot of money for a bunch of wires and such.
Controller Board (CB): These are not very expensive. They are priced right around where everyone else has their boards. The problem here in lies with the software and upgrades. The boards will be project specific. Meaning that they will look, EXACTLY like another makers board. These boards however as specific to this kit and will cover a warrenty (so far). If you were to plug the sister to this board in, first thing would happen is you would burn the board. Second you would void any future upgrades to the board such as firmware or new fire modes. Example: if the PSP changes their rules on year, or a new tourney series come out and has new fire modes, as long as your boards warrenty has not been voided, you are able to receive these updates. (I dont know how this is going to be,.. free or not. But think if its free upgrades that means buying price of the board wilbe higher)
Daughter Board (DB): Basically you plug the conponents into the daughter board such as the noid, trigger switch, on off switch, led, etc, into this board. You then connect the controller board into the DB and your done. Purpose of the DB is to eliminate the need to rip apart your gun in the case that service or upgrades need to be done to the controller board. The DB also limits the size and cost over all of the CB, wire harness, etc. Think if you have an E-Mag and you jsut want to take the old board out and install a new one. The CB alone can not work with 18VDC from the E-Mag battery, if you had all the plugs and connectors mounted on the main board, the size would grow beyond a drop in board. So picture that you have a DB, the same size as the CB but it has all the plugs you need to reconnect the solenoid, wapr feed cable, ACE if you have it, HES or a standard trigger (yes, this kit will support BOTH!!) eyes, etc. Then you connect the main board and your done. Does that sound like something you might buy??? These are not required for every gun, nor every kit. It basically will be sold as a stand alone item that if you have a E-Mag,.. and you just dont want to deal with the wire harness,.... this would be the way to go. (this board is in design phase and HAS NOT be produced yet. Still waiting on the designer to get me a proto-type)
EP Noid: Its what is sounds like. Its a solenoid. Its an actuator, it comes in a bunch of flavors in a few different styles. All will be dependant on the gun you hve and the one you want. Still, this item will be a drop in unit, made to fit the kit.
Wire Harness: I know the first question is,... "100 bucks for a bunch of wires!!!??" Yeah,.. Let me explain this. The wire harness isnt going to be a bunch of wires only. Its going to be a user modified solution to their own ideas and project. Think of it like the Morlock wire harness was. Only that on the ends of the wires that had nothing to attach to,.. this harness has the connections for the warp feed cable, eyes, trigger switch, HES switch, power leads for the Emags, hyperframes, etc. Your getting pre-fabricated cables. Basically you are using the wire harness over the daughter board because you didnt want the daughter board or maybe,.. you just want to save some cash and do it alone! I dont know, but it may come in a bunch of forms to keep the price down. Everything for price is up in the air,.. hence,.. dont quote me on anything!
With the exception of the controller board, everything is up in the air right now. I have made my designs, paid my fees, and sent them off. Ive applied for my patents, paid 2 lawyers, etc. Things are rolling,.. just not fast. Im trying to take my time and do this the right way instead of rushing anfd producing some piece of junk.
You want it to be fast, reliable, and cheap.
Pick 2,.. just dont pick cheap! So far this has taken a lot of my extra time and money. I've been giving a year to date for a project completion time, it might take more.
So thats that! If this thread gets to be too much of a Q&A rather than the name suggestions I will open a new thread and answer questons if I have time.
Hmmmmmmmmmm, imag, so simple you just have to plug it into the wall and you're good to go...
And then for commercials you can have an old "uncool" guy be the old mag or another marker and a "cool" guy be your imag and have the commercials not make all that much sense and just bash the other marker.
Seriously though, i don't see the point in naming it, just call it badass and be done with it.
Il n'y a point de sots si incommodes que ceux qui ont de l'esprit.
