    Y or Z grip opinions

I've searched around for info. and haven't had any luck; but has any one used either of the Y or Z grip and can comment on it? I'm probably going to use it on a pump; but I would like opinions from anyone who has use either frame.

I love my z. it's really slanted (the other way) and it's sweet. It is a sturdy construction and looks great on my micromag. Im selling mine for 1.4 billion dollars shipped.

I'd suggest going with a Y-grip for a pump and not a Z-grip. Your wrists will be at such odd angles to each other that I can't see it being anything but awkward and considering the pump stroke movement, well I just shudder to think about it.

I haven't used either, but for a pump I would recomend a stock instead. I have a JCS folding stock which cost me $40 or $50 new (I forget....)
Anyway the reason why I recomend a stock over a Y or Z frame for a PUMP is because you want more stability when firing a pump for imporved accuracy (at least I find I am more acurate with a stock).

MAINLY when you have a stock, a Y or Z grip is not needed and may be uncomfortable. A 45 degree frame is orriginally designed for fire arms with a stock or for a pistol which is to be held with your arms straight out. At this position the regular 45 frame is the most natural position for your wrist. With paintball guns (with no stock) usually they are held tucked into the shoulder and your hand is close and almost touching your shoulder. At the position your wrist prefers to be bent the other way (reverse 45).
You can demonstrate this to yourself by closing your hand as if it were holding a gun and bring it to touch your sholder. Move you wrist between the 45 degree grip and the y grip (reverse 45) positions and see which feels best (the regular 45 should be uncomfortable). Then extend your arm straight and do the same thing....you should find that the Y grip position is now uncomfortable.

Hope this helps! As cool as the Y and Z grip are, this should save you some money and be more satisfactory in the end.

The only way I would say to go for the Y/Z on a pump would be if you also had a forward slanted pump grip thing. Just think about one wrist going / and the other \

Though if you wanted to go semi I loved the crap out of my Y grip(till I mutalated it). Very compfy and I really wish I could find an E one for other guns(besides the BKO).

I held a zgrip before (curtosey of someone on here, i believe it was greenaliens, though i may be wrong) and it felt odd, but fell into my hand very nicely. I didn't shoot it cause i didn't want to waste his paint since i didn't know him, but i think it'd be a bit weird to play with.

i love my Y-grip. Z grip is just too slanted for my taste. putting either on a pump seems silly to me.

I personally like both the Y and Z frames, though I (along w/evryone else^^^^^) would not suggest either for a pump. for semis I would say that is personal preference but I know I love both styles and use each depending on my mood.

it's not the same but I have a 90* frame on one of my snipers and it has a very different feel. Because of the forward angle it changes the dynamics. Now mine isn't nearly as pronounced as a z-grip, i just envision arm held at weird angles that would not be comfortable at all to try to play at. The Z-grip is perfect for a player that wants to tuck in while stationary, not a typical pumper's pose since you need to have your body open enough cycle the pump arm.

oh well. hope my rantings help a little

Another concern: Like previous folks have said, the z-grip is for getting tucked in. If using the z-grip with a pump, you may start banging your wrist against the front of the grip or ASA or foregrip. Probably wouldn't be as big a deal with a y-grip, but I don't have one of those to pantomime with (I do have a z-grip).

                      Wouldn't pump a Z , akward angle IMO.

                      Y isn't to bad , I kinda like vert-86* myself.

The Z is best suited , altho never realized , for an electro set up or 'light' trigger. Makes field movement and certain field positions compromised.
