When was the last time you saw a sportsmanship tourney award (speedball)

I was thinking about this the other night. It used to be very common for tournaments to hand out a sportsmanship award based on, well sportsmanship. Regardless of how sporting a team may have been if you were winning you never got it, it always seemed to be the way of the promoter of small tournaments to give back some of the entrance fee to the team that found itself in a tournament it could not handle, to make what was a horrible day into an ok one. "We won the sportsmanship award" was often synonomous (sp) with "we had close to the worst score but didn't whine". Maybe in some places it was different, but thats how it seemed around here. It often went to the beginner rec group at that field that decided to band together and compete in the "rookie" bracket, expecting rookie to mean rookie.

How long since anyone has seen a sportsmasnhip prize awarded? Seriously, I thought about it the other day and cannot think of any in the past several years.

I got one of those in my first tourney i played. 3 man. We would have gotten last place, but the last place team was DQ'd for shooting hot.

We were WAY out gunned, out experianced, out played, and out shot. But we stayed the whole time, and loved every second of it.

they can take the sportsmanship award and cram it.
they never give it to the true sporstman.
They just find some girl and fork it over to her.
which is such a waste because even if she does play you know she sucks......so that damn viking just sits there going to waste or even worse takes the blame for her blatant incompetence on the field.
that was my damn award and every one knows it ....look at the video ...i mean come on anyone that was there knows i shouyld have won.

I have won sportsman ship several times back when there was still 10 man in the woods at IAO , I found the teams there for 10 man seemed to deserve them, it was a pin, a well cherished pin, I have I beleive 3 of them

The Utah summer games still does sportsmanship awards.

Not a big tournament, but the Farmland 10-ball still has them.
I can't tell if it is a last place award or a having a great time award, but I got one

Actually I have seen a few, but only in our tiny paintball circuit. Usually there is an award for "The team who finished behind second last..."

Our circuits out here still give out sportmanship awards. We also have the best welt award and the best move award, as judged by the refs.

my "team" got one a little over a year ago. we went out there to have fun and hopefully place. we ended up getting second in the prelims and fith in the finals, so we didnt do too bad.

About 15 years ago (not sure exactly on years) My dad's team at the time "The Momma's boys" played in a tourney at Paintball Sams, and my dad got his 68automag do to sportsman like conduct, I remember we ahve it on tape and I think Tom Kaye was even there. That year they played the SOBs.

wich is why i shifted towards rec/scenario. plus all the neat characters on the field like tyger... we got a few like him around...

There was a tournament in England I went to back in November. They handed out two $100 prizes as sportsmanship awards. It was the only tournament I've ever been to, so I'm not sure how often sportsmanship awards get handed out.

One of my friends got one of them...he deserved it, and my teammate got the other one (not sure what he did to get it).

Last month, Epog event (pump only tourny). RITZ's team got the team award & my son got the individual sportsmanship award. I believe RITZ's team was in fourth place we were in second (fourteen teams total). But its an old school oriented tourny, both in values & personality.
