    Clasic RT Questions

I was just wondering some things about the design of the orriginal RT.
Why did the RT go with a gas through rail (and field strip bolt) instead of going straight into the vavle body like the 68 mag or the newer RT pro X vavles?

Were the stock grips for these markers carbon fibre grips?

How much did these cost new back in the day?

    Thanks.

More than likely the original idea for the hardline and gas through rail and banjo bolt was because of the air pressures being input into the gun. More of a safetey feature than anything else I would assume.

No, the front grips aren't carbon fiber. They're aluminum with a rubber sleeve.

I believe they were ~$650 for quite some time. Possibly a bit more on initial release.

The primary reason for the gas-through-banjo-bolt is the flexibility. All of the air-input ports feed the banjo bolt, so you can run air into the rail from any input location.
Time is what keeps things from happening all at once

No, that's not it. What advantage would that give you realistically?

The banjo bolt was a lame attempt to get rid of the hose-to-the-valve set up. But since you still needed to run a line to the rail, instead of to the front grip (and into the valve via the rail), it was a waste. The extra ports on the back of the rail were there for future air-driven accessories - that never materialized. They do owever make a nice spot to put a lpr for a Pmag conversion :-)

I paid $650ish for my new RT in 99'

Yes, they originally had the single trigger carbon fiber frames.

I still have some magaizines that have the RT listed at ~$650. And I purchased mine used some 5 years after it was produced and it STILL had the original single trigger CF frame.

Well one "advantage" as much as it is, is to have multiple air supplies....I guess if you made some monster out of it with extreeme rates of fire you would need the extra boost.

Air driven accessories? hmmm I wonder what those would have been....

I was currious about the price since the online museum says that they made the RT pro to be more economical, but I seem to remeber wayyyy back that a new RT PRO would be about $700 or more from AGD (before the x mag existed).

Also some store is selling a brand new RT with a custom anno job as a "limited edition" for $800, but I swear it was $1000 at one point.... http://cgi.ebay.com/Limited-Edition-...QQcmdZViewItem

Mine was purchased from Planet Eclipse for around 1000 bucks! It is a red splash one and it had the black body. I had to take out a loan for it back in 96-97 era. Fast in the day, but crazy ball chopper. I used it for a couple of years and put it away for along time. I broke it out in 04. Added a nickel I-frame, had the body polished to a high luster and added a LvL10 bolt. I used it for a little while, but I upgraded to an Emag. Now it sits in my collection ready for action in case I should play a mechanical only game.

The stock grip frame was made of a light weight composite, with finger groved one piece rap around rubber grips and single trigger.

I was looking at that same design and wondering that too. Has anyone ever attempted going the the grip like the Mini's and getting rid of the external line? Just that, it would clean up the look a bit.

I actually like the hardline on mine. But since my body is black like REDRT's, I'm thinking of having someone like Gruntbull do the black oxide process that they can do on stainless steel and I think it would blend so much more.

I agree I like the hard line. I was stubborn and held out for a stock RT with a polished body. It HAD to have the orriginal air fittings.

A pure black RT (with black air fittings too) would be cool, a great base for a scenario marker. It was tempting, but I just had to go with the beautiful contranst of the flat black anno and the pollished steel
