    buying tanks direct from manufacturer

is it possible to buy just tanks from either carleton or luxfer in small quantities? if not, does anyone know where you can buy just the tank at any store?

Don't throw stuff at me but, Smart Parts sells them on their site. THe problem is they are as costly as one with a valve.

Cylinders are expensive, regulators are like $25-40 for most of them to manufacture... most of the price is the cylinder.

I wouldn't expect the wholesale for SP to be much lower than $100...

I tried to buy them separately...145 each. Screw that.

might as well but a complete tank and swap regs, then you could take the old reg and tie a 6 foot rope to it and swing it around your head when your playing. i guess you could sell it too...

Your best bet is exactly that. Buy a used tank from here or on ebay, swap the reg out, then sell the old reg.

some times they wont even sell single tanks but they will sell you a batch with is like 100 tanks (that might have been for the "custom graphics/color" ones but still.

its not really worth it to buy one for the manufacture if you want a certian tank just buy one with a reg on it and then get the regs swaped.

do you realize how many tanks someone would have to buy? companies like SP buy THOUSANDS.

it might be cheaper to find another industry that uses tanks in the sizes we want at the pressures we want and find a distributor/supplier to get them from. probably can get discounts at lower numbers than right from the maker.

I live within about 45 minutes of Carleton and contacted them directly about getting a tank with no reg. They absolutely will not do it, not even if I were to come to their location. They directed me to talk to NPS about it, who also will not sell a tank without a regulator.

I refuse to provide Smartparts with any money, so buying one of their regless tanks is out of the question. I wonder why nobody else can sell a tank without the reg. Maybe Smartparts patented that...

by the thousand tho the price goes down significantly. but if someone bought like 100 at one time the price would probably be like $60 to $110 depending on size. thats if they sell in those quantities

Most likely the manufacturers don't want Joe Sixpack to put regulators on to avoid any possible liability.
