    The E-Mag

    I need some educating.

I have been facinated by the E-Mag for quite some time now. Recently i have made teh decision to sell off my current guns to fund an E-Mag. (this is proving troublesome lol)

Anyway, i dont know what has possesed me. I have always been intrigued by the E-Mag, but recently they have become somewhat of an obsession. I find myself wanting no other marker than an E-Mag. I look at other possibilities and markers i can afford but none of them seem to have that "emotional" punch as an E-Mag has for me. I dont know why i want one so bad.......i just do.

Then later tonight a thought accured to me. I dont know anything about the E-Mag, i mean, REALLY know. Sure i get the general idea of the E-Mag, and one of the best selling points to me is it can be electro OR mech with the flip of a switch. But short of that and the general understanding of how an AutoMag works i know jack about them. Ive never even seen one in real life, much less shot one.......(an emag that is)

So i come to you the braintrust of all things AGD. Tell me about E-Mags. Opinions, honest ones, are needed. What to look for? Experiances? Just educate me please. And for the record, im not looking for someone to blow smoke up my rear about how great they are. Thats NOT what im looking for. Just honest and concise opinions on them. In addition, when buying one what should i look for? What are some draw backs, advantages, mods, details, personality quirks etc etc......

Also, it may be of interest that ive never owned an electric marker. I stopped playing when they really hit the market, and at time they were $1,000 or so. Now that ive started again (playing) i want that to be my next step. tell me about all the programing issues too.

In general, i just need some educating. and yes, i DID search, but most of the threads i found required a "base" of knowlege to really get. Hence me thinking about this post.

    Thanks, in advance.

Yeah, I bought my Emag - best decision I ever made.

A little heavier than other markers, and not as much shots per tank, but put a ULE body and rail and X-valve with level 10 anti chop system, Xmod it and you'll tear up the opposition.

NO other marker has Manual override!

hehe, i was the same way. first time i went paintballing my friend was using a SFL warped e-mag. that emag was and is still considered to me to be the cream de la cream of paintball markers. i was so happy when i got one.

yes the emag has 2 switch with a total of 3 option. i am considering the pin used to control power on or off. first option is power on and second switch in electo mode. the gun functions like any other electro on the market, well...depeding on which version of the software you have, but same things as the others. short trigger pulls, light, and changeable ROF and other options. second option is power off and second switch in mech mode. at this point it acts like any other mech mag around. longer trigger pulls and heavier too. it's not that much just so you aren't expecting this 2 pound pull. and by longer it's once again not this crazy big amount. the third option is power on and mech mode. if it's set up right it makes it easier to bouce the trigger by using the electonics to assist in firing the marker. i'm not too sure of the tech parts of this, but the basic is that.

i love my emag so much. and i am positive you will too once you get it. also, post pics of it when you get it. i would reccomend getting a good adjustable HP tank. that way if you want to have a reactive trigger you can up the pressure and do that. other wise you can turn it down and avoid bounce. also, make sure you chrono it properly, usual mag procedure.

if you give a man an emag, he gona want a ULE body. if you give him a ULE body, hes gonna want an xvalve. IF you give him and xvalve, hes gona want the Xmod programmer. IF you give a man the xmod programmer, hes going to NEED the fastest loader ever made

The emag is a thing of beauty. When I decided to get one I went new with a warp; came with x valve and ULE body. Everything I would ever need in a gun, and yes I say that knowing it does not have eyes! There is no better feeling than getting a new gun. Unfortunately you can't order new ones from AGD right now...anyway

All there is to an emag over a regular automag is the ability to play with the triger and the warp works very well with the warp harness (connect gun to warp).

The emag trigger is very interesting. You can have a light trigger pull and a short one. I got the trigger pull down so you couldn't even see it move. Where it really gets interesting is if the trigger is set a bit longer than a standard electro triger (and only a little bit) the RT bounce in hybrid mode will push the trigger back to increase your rate of fire. This is still pure semi! It isn't increasing your rate of fire by bouncing, but helping with how fast you can walk the trigger!
It takes a bit of practice and fine tuning the triger pull length and at what point in the pull the gun wil fire, but when you set it just right it is amazing.

As for setup I would definetly go with a stainless warp body and warp naturally. I love the look of the stainless emag with its stock barrel. It is a beast of a gun, but nothing some sessions at the gym shouldn't solve

I can't see why people don't like emags with warps for tournaments. I am not a constant goer to speedball tournies, but when I am there I see each and every player fire fast, but have their markers skip beats as their eyes kick in or they chop a ball from their loaders not feeding fast enough. My emag with a warp has NEVER skipped a beat except for when I forgot to change out the warp batery once. And that was with a standard 9v...no 12volt mod.

It is sooooo awsome playing and being next to impossible to hit without that hopper. I have watched so many balls wizz by where they would have hit the feedneck on a non warp setup.

As for the electronics, easy to use and easy to program. X mod helps though and is just as easy to use.

For cons I have to say I hated the stock ULE emag barrel. I got the two piece J and J barrel and I didn't like it. They have a dye barrel now which may be better, but you have to buy used anyway.
However I borrowed my friends stock emag twistlock barrel for my classic mag and it shot rediculously straight. So if you decide to go the stainless mainbody route you shouldbe very happy (arm may be a bit sore for a few days after your first outing though )

Oh! and most importantly: I have never had mine go down! (asside from user error )

I just bought a new Emag after running a classic mag for 6 years. I love it. It is a little bit heavier than my previous setup because of the battery pack, but it's nothing i couldn't get used to in about two times out to play. With tank and loader, it was about a pound and a half heavier than a PMR with a similar setup. Right now i still have AGD 1.37 software on it, so I'm saving up for Xmod software.

my favorite attributes of the e-mag have got to be the mechanical over-ride. not for when my electronics fail, but when i want to go playing mech - i only need one gun.

i love the battery, the weight of feel of it just clicks with me.

and the hall effect and magnetic return is just so different than other electros. its snappy and crisp. plus hybrid mode is just nucking futs.

the only problem i had was finding a drop/rail that balanced it well with my 68/45 flatline.
i ended up using an air america rail, and it's perfect.

i have a very similar attraction to e-mags, and reguardless of whether or not you decide to have an old school twist lock stainless steel no rise centerfeed or a karta i think they look awesome.

this is how they work (props to ydna for a sick animation)

I bought my E Mag in 2001. I have NEVER played with it in Mechanical mode, or even hybrid for that matter. It had a 3k Flatline, now it has a 4.5k Flatline, one of the first one's sold.

It got a prototype LX (level 10) straight from AGD,

then it got the ULE body...one of the first one's made publicly available

Then it needed the HALO, first an "A", then an upgrade or 3, and now a V35 HALO...

...and the X Mod. lotsa fun.

LX is what made the E Mag shine. In the days before LX, it could really be a paint blender! X Valve? Don't need no stinkin' X Valve!

Custom green and pewter, All ULE (rail is milled inside), Pewter XValve (with hidden laser engraving), Tunablade, custom selection switch and a green led display. I also have a flatline 4500 for it (goes with the pewter. It's got xmod 1.7 on it as well. I also have three other mags.

The brutal truth: When I play speedball I use my PM5. When I play woodsball I use my Orracle. I really love my EMag. I just have had much better experiences with the PM and the Cocker. The PM has no kick and is quite a bit more consistent (which leads to shot placement consistency). For woodsball there is something magical about the back block on the cocker. The cocker is also quite a bit more consistent than the emag.

Buy one and you will never look back. What features all depend on you budget, from a power feed steal value, to an Xmag it doesn't really matter they all shot the same rates and with the Xmod,........well you need to try it to believe it!!

I have 2. 1 stock emag with 3.2 and a morlocked one with predator 5.0. the trigger on the morlocked one is so light, if you think about touching it it goes off. I've had it to 25 (with ramping) bps and it didnt skip a beat. The stock one is a little different. I have not messed with the triggeer pull on it. I've had to to 16 bps.

With a full tank and plenty of pressure you can get a high rate of fire with both of them in mech mode. Last february at blanding my battery died and my son was using my second emag (instead of his nerve, lol) and I actually went out on the field without the battery on it at all. Yeah I missed the ramping, but still got to play.

I like them because they each have their own personality. Any of you that have worked with mechanical equipment for any length of time probably know what Im talking about.
