We had a discussion about the designer of the X-Mag. IIRC, Simon did some work on the CNC X-Mag, or X-mag Xtreme. but it was my understanding that someone else designed the X-mag, correct me if I am wrong. But Simon is not the name I was looking for.
I have nothing good to put here...........

I thought Sosta & crew designed the original Emag Extreme or whatever the unmilled bodies were called at the time?

I think....Sosta extruded the extremes. Simon was working with Sosta doing the CNC machine programming. Not sure who did the actual design art on the X-mags.

we should make this a weekly trivia event for the AO kids .....

The way I understood it, and I could easily be wrong, is that Sosta and whoever else was working with him did the first design for the EMag Extreme. For those who don't remember, those are the plain aluminum bodies, not quite a slug but not really milled at all. They were never really available to the general public, at least not in the US.

Then Simon got involved when it was apparent there was a need to "pretty up" the bodies (since everyone knows Simon is a nancyboy :) )

I didn't think Simon was too involved until after the basic new design was complete.

Sounds pretty close... I emailed Simon for some light on the subject.

                          Very close...

You just want me to be a nancy boy...

John Sosta and John Bonich designed the original E-mag extreme. It is what you guys came to know as the "Euro" Extreme body. It had the removable breaches and was mainly the base extrusion with some "simple" cuts.

Then I helped John Sosta set up the machines and CNC (computer numerical control) work and designed the body and wrote the code for the styling and manufacturing of the "CNC" (coloured and carved) E-Mag Extreme.

The CNC E-mag, was renamed for the USA and taken as the sole model in the form of the "X-mag".

So... I think the answer is... depends on what you mean by the question.

The original body design with removeable breeches and concept was done by John and John.

I did the body styling and milling of what you guys came to know as the X-mag.

Does that help? or confuse more?

p.s. Larry didn't design the BBD, that was Steve Bull, but Larry did patent it.

That was pretty much what I understood the situation to be. The answer on my quiz was
Sosta, as I was hinting towards te original X-mag, not the CNC version. Manike since you posted, hows things going? You back in the states now?

                              Yes, back in the states.

The "X-mag" was the CNC version. It was only ever the name for CNC version in the USA as far as I am aware. There is no "original X-mag" that would be called the Extreme...

p.s. Don't underestimate John Bonich's involvement either. That wouldn't be fair.
