Would you be able to remove anno from the outer surface of a barrel? I don't want to have the barrel anno chemically removed as that may screw up the mating surfaces of the threads and the bore.

And to expand on that, can you remove plating or anno as part of the polishing process, or would pieces need to be stripped before they were sent to you? To be specific, I have a nickel plated ULE body that is starting to flake and I want to either have it brought down to bare aluminum and polished, or stripped and then anno'd. If I decide to go the polished route, could you do it?Comment

plating will have to be stripped, i don't have any media blasting equipment.
anodizing is no real issue for me, i can strip it or polish right through it.
the polishing through it kind of has an interesting effect,
i can lighten the color or remove it entirely.
i can lighten it to the point where it almost looks like a cross between Candy Apple and Pearlized paint. only very very light in color.Comment

A question that is more anno based than polish based but you may know the answer and may get my parts anyway...
I've got parts I wish to get anno'd into a high gloss finish. Some are anno'd, some are plated, some are gloss, some are matte, some are painted, some are raw, etc..
I was planning on getting all of them blasted to get them all into the same stage and then send them to anno. The blasting will leave them rough/dust/matte white looking. To get them back to a GLOSS anno do they need to be polished before anno? Will it help?
I'm thinking after anno they get a quick polish as well to bring up to shine, but if they are nice and shiny to start does it help? Or does the chemical strip before anno do away with the polish?
Thanx!!!

hmmmm......Originally posted by LK-13gloss anodizing is accomplished by polishing the parts first then anodizing them.
So I will more than likely be sending you some parts.... Don't hold your breath of course, but hopefully before the end of the year!!!
I'll have to get pics up for you to give me some numbers on.
