Got to check resources first. What is the actual difference between these and the older Whisper barrel? There has to be something.

I think the new Fiburs are straight ported. The older Fiburs and Whispers are spiral. I also think the Whispers didn't have the DW logo but could be wrong.

You are correct on the porting but not sure on the logo.

There have been a few variations over the years. The very first ones (Wisper) had a smaller aluminum back part and used a thin metric O-ring inside to hold the Freak insert, had spiral porting, and no jewels. These were made for AC threads only. Then we added a few thread types, made the back parts a little larger, and use a standard #018 O-ring inside. Then we added jewels to the back parts.. around this time changed the name from Wisper to Fibur. The most recent change is the straight porting, along with even more thread types. That is where we are now.

Please put me down for an 8" barrel.

Also: In your first thread you noted that 8" barrels DO NOT have porting... Colin said they DO in the post directly above this one your reading now.

Just a friendly FYI for you

I have a 12" Wisper and a 16" Fibur. I can say that the newer ones are better, speacially at the inside of the barrel, after the insert part. The newer ones are smoother and even looks as if they have an inner aluminum part inside it (which it doesn't). Looks like an overral improvement on the quality and I can vouch for it.

Colin (NiCad) really knows what he does and that's why I want a new 10" barrel for me.
