AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Last I heard about Goldie from Vapor though, was that he had some family problems and was also moving into a new house for the past few months (heard it on pbn).
The same thing was said on the tinkers guild, ive had a hard time staying in contact with him also, then again I only have one board with problems...
The boards, harnesses, V-Link cables, and Software CD's all showed up today.
Unless something is wrong with them, I have boards now.
WOOOHOOOO!!!!
Now I just need to finish installing the DRO on my new milling machine and I can get back to work on these beasts.
I'm still a little gimped up from a not so minor machine tool accident I had about a week and a half ago. Once the stitches come out and I'm back to 100% I'll be tearing into the DRO install and then getting the CNC machine back together (I had a coolant pump die on me). I hope to be back in action by the weekend of the 16th of Dec. Keep your fingers crossed that all has healed as it should have.
Stay tuned folks, Derek's marker is about 60% done right now, so it'll be the first one that pics will show up for.

Who owns the # 2 spot ? I own the # 10 spot.
I will pay to trade down. If someone who already owns a place in line is interested,
PM me if you need a couple pesos and dont mind moving further down the line
to the # 10 spot .
I'm not talking about buying another marker, just moving closer to the # 1 spot.
And I do so hate for this thread to get off the first page.
Sorry for the hi-jack, if you prefer to keep your thread all business, I'll delete this post, no problem.
I found a honey of a deal on a Sharp LMV-50 only one state away, so I took it. Bought a Newall C80 DRO to hang on it at the same time. Sweet deal, I just gotta get back to the shop and get the DRO installed so I can use the blasted thing.
About a week after I bought the Sharp, the Bridgeport had a fit of jealously (aided in no small part by my own stupidity) and bit me good.
I had an 18" long folded sheet steel piece in my Kurt vise, trying to cut a counterbore for a screw to seat in, when the end mill I was using bound up and pulled the piece out of the vise. It swung around whacked me on the right forearm and basically ripped my abdomen open. The scar is about a foot long, but only about half was deep enough (~1/4"-1/2" deep) to need stitches.
All told, I got two pretty gnarly scars out of it, and 15 stitches in my gullet.
I pulled the stitches out Monday before last though, so my gullet is now fully operational again.
I will offer this advice, do not work sheetmetal in a smooth jawed machinist's vise.
