    no difference.

    45 cu-in x 4,500 psi = 202,500 in-lbs

    68 cu-in x 3,000 psi = 204,000 in-lbs

the two tanks contain nearly the same amount of energy and should therefore give you almost identical shot counts. Of course this is based on calculations and not real world testing. Even with real world testing I doubt if there would be a difference between the two shot counts.

you should get about 680 shots out of the 68/30 tank and about 675 out of the 45/45

what about a 51/3000? I have one of those but it seems to run out quickly.

          68 cu-in x 3,000 psi = 204,000 in-lbs

          45 cu-in x 4,500 psi = 202,500 in-lbs

          51 cu-in x 3,000 psi = 153,000 in-lbs.

if you get 680 shots out of a 68/3000, then....

          680/204,000 = N/153,000

          204,000N = 10,404,000

          10,404,000/204,000 = 510

          N = 510.<<<

          680/204,000 = N/ 202,500

          204,000N = 137,700,000

          137,700,000/204,000 = 675.<<<

So you would get approx 510 shots from a 51/3K , 675 shots from a 45/4.5K, and 680 shots from a 68/3K going on the basis that each shot uses 300 in lbs of air, or exactly 0.1 cu. inch or air in a 3K tank.

That is the math behind it all.

You're forgetting that there is a lower pressure limit. After a certain pressure, you'd no longer get full speed shots. Lets say that pressure is 400psi. The numbers would then be...

            68ci x 3000psi - 68ci x 400psi = 176,800
            45ci x 4500psi - 45ci x 400psi = 184,500

The 45ci, 4500psi has a bit more energy than then 68 3000. Thats because a 68 has a lot more of its energy in the sub 400psi range which isn't very useful.

what someone told me before is that the pressure doesnt go into how many shots you get....someone just told me you get about 10 shots per c.i. but i dont run nitro so i dont know....they were probably wrong...
