    electromagnetic solenoid

    would it be possible to use an electromagnetic solenoid to trip a sear instead of a pneumatic one?? Whats the good and bad

    most all sear-triping style grip frames (IE spyder electronics frames.. ) use electronic solenoids to trip sears. The only guns that use pnematic solenoids (these are called rams) are like cockers.. blazers.. etc.. and htey are used for bolt operation, not sear tripping.

      i think you misunderstood...

      i meant a electro-magnetic coil type solenoid.
      the magnet is controlled by the board and the switch.

            doesn't the sandridge use a ram to release the sear? Thats why they have two solenoid valves mounted on the front block.

              Yes, the Sandridge uses a pneumatic ram on the sear!! Cheaper and most practical, however, is the electronic solenoid!! And a solenoid by definition, is an electromagnetic device that converts electric pulse to mechanical movement!!!
