    Reg spring question

The spring on the reg pin. How much does that effect the regulators performance? I would think there is some sort of trade off by either increasing of decreasing that spring force, right? Any ideas?

that is exactly how you adjust regulsator pressure ;-)

        you mean

That tiny spring on the pin controls the reg pressure? I thought it was controled by the large die spring pushing the pin up and open.

I think slice is talking about the spring thats on the pin valve, not the piston.

I think what matters is the difference in forces between the piston spring and the pin valve spring; not the actual force of each. I don't really know though.. Nerobro? Tom? Anyone else?

the spring on the pin is merely a place keeper. it holds it in place. if you used a stronger spring on the pin the weaker the piston spring woud seem and effectively reduce the output pressure.

In fact.. there are LPR adjusters that use this trick of adjusting a 'seccondary" spring. the twiddler for the sledge works that way. It just behaves as a spring "pack" versus a single spring.
