    Trigger Feel and Geometry

From observation, I've noticed that some triggers are easier than others to walk or fire in general w/o fumbling. To me, an E-Blade is less effort than an EMag trigger... although it could be my imagination.

I've noticed that there are swept back triggers, that some say are easy to walk. Now, I was wondering if anyone has studied this or knows how to improve trigger feel and geometry, beyond the trigger pull tension and pull length.

I've been thinking that the HES and trigger magnet limits the flexibility of what can be done with the EMag trigger beyond what can be presently adjusted. And the requirement of a magnet in the trigger further limits what shape it can have, and how much material it must consist of. I'm curious if anyone has tried to replace it with an optical sensor, I haven't got around to that.

I think there is room for improvement in the EMag trigger... would like to see some advances.

I haven't had much experience with diverse electros, but I prefer a slightly thinner trigger than the emags (ie: Intimidator triggers). As you mentioned, thats challenging due to the HES system and magnets in the trigger. An optical system might be a possible solution, but the first problem that comes to mind is paint and mud/gunk covering the eye, preventing the marker from shooting...

BTW how exactly does the emag trigger function?
what I [think that I] understand:
There is a magnet in the trigger. you can add more magnets to adjust the strentgh of the magnetic field. The magnets field, when moved closer to the HES sensor, activates the switch beginning the marker's cycle. Right?

Can the HES sensor's sensitivity be adjusted?

(I'm sorry for my lack of knowledge on the subject )
Would it work if you had a single, smaller magnet in the trigger and a little more sensitive HES?

Why not try a good ole' fashion micro switch?

I know, the HES is a distinguishing key feature of the AGD E-guns, but would it be worth it to sacrifice it if everyone could walk an EMag just as fast as everyone can walk a timmi or trix?

edit-The thing I don't like most about the emag (and other mag triggers) is the fact that they are silver (raw?). If they matched the marker or frame that they were sold with, the AGD line would be alot sexier than it is now...

      trigger shape

See, I think it's the shape of the trigger but also how it activates. I prefer flat, thin triggers that are switch-activated like the Matrix and Viking just cause of their feel. But there is definitely something to be said for flat, blade triggers as I don't have to worry about keeping one finger above and one finger below the bump in the double triggers. I think the XMags is too excessive of a bump, but other curved triggers like the timmy's and trix's seem to fit my hand better. And the magnet is part of that.

I never liked the feel of the XMag sadly to say. It seems it forces the trigger to stay in the same era the intelliframe was created. I think a new, switch-activated trigger that is thin and light would be a move in the right direction. Or optical if enough people are more fond of the Worrblade feel.

An improvement that I could see in the Emags trigger is a reduction in the size of the central "hump". A guy I met in Florida at his shop(guy had THREE Xmags) made/modified(not sure which he did) the groove trigger style to be much much smoother with a smaller groove and rounded the sides of the trigger. Felt alot better than the stock.

There isn't really any optical "feel" though... there's no switch to hit, so an HES trigger and optical trigger should feel the same. Now the feel of the trigger itself is completely different.

The trigger on the Omen is really easy to walk. IF you look at it, its kinda like a trigger put in the other way.

A lot of people like the mechanical switch triggers. It does give you lots of choices in trigger styles. Many can walk them better achieving a higher rate of fire. Some of the high rates of fire is due to switch bounce, though.

The HES system is a very good system of activation. Its very accurate and controllable. I don't like the big hump on the trigger though. I have mine filed down a bit to smooth it out. It makes it easier to walk. The trigger is easy to adjust the pull force using the addition of magnets above the trigger in the grip frame. No changes needed here.

Where we need to make improvements is in the style of the trigger. In order to do this we need a new type of activation or do we? Instead of having a movable magnet on the trigger, why don't we make an adjuster for the HES. Move it back and forth instead of the trigger magnet. That way the trigger magnet can be fixed in a thin trigger.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

the HES and its problems with the switch zone that allows it to go FA was one of the big reasons i switched to a trix, not to mention the ability to shoot faster i feel from the microswitch

Im with you guys... I shoot a Trauma Trix instead of an xmag mainly because of the trigger. I have been working on a project for sometime now, making a trix frame work on the body of an emag. This allows you to have the zesty features of the xmag and the trix in one package. If anyone wants to beat me to this its fine with me... Check out my thread in the workshop of you are interested.

                  Later guys.
