another new gun design heh heh

i was looking at my old PMI piranah the other day and was looking at the "low pressure chanber " with a piston and spring inside - i thought i might be able to use this to trip a threeway and add a RAM and REG and turn it into a autococker, sort of, - i was wondering if this would make sense, as then I could get the electro trigger to do the sear and thus make it pretty fast ,as it would trip the threeway on firing due to the drop in preasure in the LPC,what you guys think? i will see if i can get a GIF up to demonstrate

Wow, thats a really clever idea. It took me a second to remember that goofy little "ram air" chamber your talking about.

Try it out, see what happens.

thanks - It may be tricky to get the timing right though as its going to cycle pretty fast I think -

well i got it to cycle the valve - the regulator has to be pretty good or else it miss fires and pinches - i also had to change it a bit - made the piston into a 3-way -and changed the disign slightly - so that it uses the gas from the valve as i run low preasure (like 180psi)its ok - i will post a pick of the simpler design when i get time

dont think i've ever heard of that kit - how does it work ? the novel part of my design is to allow the drop in preasure to spool the valve does it do the same

They never finished the rail kit, there has been talk of it for a few years already.

I don't understand your drawing, you want the air from the LPC to trip the 3 way, or are you just using the air from there?

Also with the valve design you have in the LPC...I don't really understand it, it kinda looks like a regular 2 tube blow back valve, but air goes top and bottom. According your picture, there is a constant pressure going into all the holes at once... therefore your ram wouldn't know what to do, it would get stuck in a middle position.

Mounting something out of a Spyder or Piranha ram air chamber has been used acouple times before, mostly on makeshift cocker hybrids. I think the Rail Kit from DeadlyWind acutally puts a LPR on the end of then gun instead of a 3 way like you mentioned. This is the same idea they've used for the new "autocockers" posted awhile back.

                AGD Did someone call me?

You should go to each gun manufacturers forum or call them up. Ask the OWNER of the company why his gun is better. When you get your answers come back here and tell us what they said.

You should buy my gun because I have 5000 posts that say I care.

well its pretty simple really - use the drop in preasure behind the valve and the time it would take to refill the vavle with gas to move the three way - i will try draw it again to better explain

xizero- I see that there are two nipples coming out of the LP Chamber/"Threeway. Do you have in mind that the Pirana would converted to closed bolt (I assume that you are planning on hooking up both nipple to the ram)? If so, the hammer/bolt would have to be modified(in the same manner as the spyder pump conversion).

Edit: I see that you have tried it. Did you change it to closed bolt? I am not sure what you mean by "spooling the valve".

Also it keeps the bolt closed under preasure untill you fire the gun then it drops just enough to cycle - i must say getting to work, relably is being a nightmare - it seams to be very reliant on temperature at the moment . but overall with compressed air its not the worst out there.
