don't patent it, sell them the idea. i know the guy who invented the a5 stovepipe (the metal one) offset hopper for specops (he has the emails and the reciept to prove it, i don't have a copy). he gave them the idea, and he got a free e-grip, and 15 of the first stovepipes ever made. he could have patented the idea, but if he did it would cost him 1000+ dollars and specops woulden't have taken the idea. i would tell AGD the idea. if it's another valve idea or something, sell it to em. but i can't give you advice unless i know what your doing. just give us a hint, for example: "warp feed idea/ upgrade" or "new version of valve".

      Shut up Don.

Don't listen to DM. That is a bunch of nonsense. Always patent it. You can sell the patent or manufacturing rights for a heck of alot more than a patent costs if you have a good idea. If you do not patent you open yourself up to theft of intelectual property. SpecOps did not have to give him anything, they did it because they are ethical (if that is even a true story ). Most people are lacking in the ethics department

Well I'm going to have to research non-disclosure agreements (NDA's) and tell them my idea without the risk of them using it as their own.

I'd even be careful about NDAs. Have a lawyer write it for you if you go that route. I would opt to get the patent though.

i think the egrip and stovepipes was a better idea then patenting it and selling them the idea. he had a simple idea an angled hopper, notrhing big, so he didn't patent it. but if questionful has a big idea worth patenting then go for it.

No, I really, really do . You don't understand the way the world works though. Your friend "the inventor" could have easily gotten screwed had specops not been ethical. The world is fully of unethical people. He could have easily seen someone profit come from his idea. That is the point. Your friend was stupid not to protect his idea. He got lucky and found an ethical place that rewarded him for his submission, but not all businesses are like that. Telling someone not to protect their ideas is piss poor advice.

I am afraid you would have been wrong in this case as well. Spec Ops was not the first to come out with the offset hopper for the A5. The design they used was different but by no means the first attempt at doing it.

Your friend may have designed it but they made it and if I am not mistaken they dont even make it anymore because people didnt like that one, almost everyone that is using one uses the one piece molded one (the one that was out before the one Spec ops put on the market)
