    Ed,

That is a really interesting concept. I don't even think it so much has to be the recoding side of the industry. Most bands do not record at major label studios any more.

What you do need to do is bring down the large labels, not studios. Start supporting indie bands. Buy your CDs from www.CDbaby.com or directly from the artists instead of from Best Buy.

Problem is, the recording industry / record labels control the media (radio stations specifically), so unless you find some independent college station in your area, you are stuck listening to what the record industry wants you to listen to.

BTW, want to listen to some kick *** music that your mother won't want to ban? www.shannoncurfman.com

glad we are on the same page with this...

and your absolutely right... support indy artists who have the courage to release albums on their own, support local recording studios as well.

The music industry the way it currently is a slowly dying dinosaur under the foot of advancing tech. Its dying abusive use of RIAA lawyers is proof enough that they are unwilling to make innovations to become competitive again. Also the RIAA's insane tactics versus internet radio and the emerging actions against broadcast radio are sad at best.

/now if we could get the politicians to turn a deaf ear to their lawyers as well.

Internet radio and even PodCasts are great, but they will never have the reach of AM/FM and now Sat radio.
