I live very close to the bridge-that-was. I was also just leaving home for a dinner when I heard, so I grabbed my camera and a few lenses and stopped by. Judging by the time stamps, I got there about 30 min after it collapsed. The police angrily shooed me (and a large group of onlookers) out of the area a few minute after I started taking pictures. I didn't stay long since I was on my way to a dinner gathering.

I always figured it would be the Lake Street or Somo bridges.. I always got creeped out crossing those.

                    Likewise.

I was planning on responding to this with 'in before the conspiracy theories' but that might not be applicable anymore.

Yeah but I drive a landscape rig for work, a F550(Truck 9,000 lbs) and a 32ft tandem (about 4,500lbs) with a Toro 325 with a 72in deck (2,500lbs) and a Toro 580 (6,000 lbs with a 16ft deck) going to our super duper mechanic (non-dealership) over that (Hoen) bridge. Sry it scares me with cement trucks, with a WI weight of 25 ton, and oversized/overload trucks going across that bridge.

                              oh by the way.

Having a CDL, and dealing with weight issues. AO Engineers and Architects. Do you think those pressures (of weight) in a slowed rush hour traffic (due to a lane closer) a simple span bridge at the max 200yds could handle those loads. I'd say local law enforcement and Dept of Public Works is at fault (Not cause of surface repairs but of not dealing with a high volume of traffic including heavy trucks) that should have been detoured to another bridge.
