Is the cinema experience backand is it worth it?

This year I've been tempted to go to the movies more often than the past few, I saw 300 last march and then this summer so far I've liked Rush Hour 3, it kept me laughing troughout the movie despite the crying baby in the crowd.

Bourne Ultimatum was a bit of a letdown but entertaining thus far. I expected a better flow to the story line but the fight scenes were descent enough to say it wasn't a waste of my 10 bucks. Now War is coming up next week and the Last Legion comes out tomorrow. I haven't considered going to the movies this much for a long time.

So have you guys been going to the movies? I've gone 3 times so far and it looks like I'll be going a few more times. Is it worth the money though?

It's no different than it ever has been. Some movies are worth the effort of seeing on the big screen, some are not. It's going to be up to the individual what is worth it and what isn't.

I throughly enjoyed Stardust. I think it will loose a bit when on the small screen.

With the simple addition of a wide screen, I would never have to see the inside of a theater again.

My sound is better. I can pause to pee any time I want. I can enjoy an adult beverage, and smoke. Snacks are the fridge away and already paid for. There is no one else to shush, no crying babies, rattle of candy wrappers.....

Given that the wait for movie to dvd is not long anymore.....Why would I even want to go?

I work at a movie theatre, so I get in for free.

And it's still isn't worth seeing the movies

I've been really disapointed with my rentals lately.. I swore off theaters but now I might go back to see movies. Movie experience > Watching in my house. Only pay twice what I would for a rental.

Last really good movie I saw was Blades of Glory/Transformers.

I'll go to the movie theatre when they start having 3 a.m. drunken porn viewings.
Oh wait, I have that in the comfort of my own home.

if you have a Megaplex or Imax screen which you can go to. then yes, it is worth it... only because it feels as if the movie is 3 inches from your face. but if you get motion sickness... i dont suggest it

Live Free or Die Hard was the first movie I've seen in the theatres in a few years. No joke.
My biggest complaint is there are always idiots in the crowd that can't just shut the hell up.
