    Dr. AO.. ear infection

Ok so last night my jaw started to hurt, and was still hurting this morning so I went online to check what it could be and its a sign of an ear infection. I was swimming in the ocean all weekend so thats probably the cause.

I was wondering if it will go away by itself in a couple days or if I really do have to go to the doctor to get a prescription?.. The waiting time to see a doctor is ridiculous around here and I would love to skip that part.

if you have insurance i would say go get er checked out, may get some good meds

how long has it been hurting? cause if its only been a day or something i would say hold off for another day or two its either gonna become horribly painful and you have to go or its gonna lay off.

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you were swimming in the ocean there is a good chance you picked up some type of bacterial infection and without an anti-biotic it is very hard to get over. I feel for you, Doctors suck and the medical industry in general sucks even more. Hope you get better

I have been to the Dr twice in the last 17 years (and both those times were in the last 2 years).

So, it might go away on it's own, but it would go away quicker if ya got some antibiotics. Me? I would tough it out.

Go to the doctor. ear infections can damage your hearing in the long run. besides keflex can't hurt you.

Had an ear ache 2 days ago and it is gone today....How you say? Well I take a cottonball or tissue and get it soaked in some rubbing alcohol. Put it in your ear and massage the canal to get the rubbing alcohol in your ear. It does a few things, 1. it dissipates any moisture from the canal, and 2. warms your ear for added comfort. Anyone with an earache knows wind/cold air makes it hurt like Hell. It usally works after a day of use, repeating the process when the cotton/tissue dries out. Checked with my DR. several ear infections ago and he said it works great. After several over the years it has never failed... Yes my earache from 2 days ago is gone today.

And who gave me this great piece of knowledge? of all people my VET for my brittany spaniel at the time. It seems they are prone and any long eared dog for that matter to moisture in the ear causing wax buildup and ear infections. So he had me anytime the dog got wet, bathed, swimming etc put some rubbing alcohol in his ear and massage it in the canal and we never had anymore ear issues.

            Hope it helps
