    GIMP Help

    Hey all,

I've recently started using GIMP software. So far, it's pretty fun to mess with, plus, it's free. Question, though. Is it possible to make the bottom layer transparent? Not white, but totally transparent.

    Thanks,
    Pzippy

I've dabbled with it, but I haven't ever really gotten anywhere with it.

Are you talking about the background layer or the bottom layer above that?
You can delete the background layer if you want to and then have the layer above that transparent. Just click on the New Layer button and then for Layer Fill Type, put in Tranparency.

        Is this not working?

There's some links on this page that will take you to a few sites with lots of Gimp tutorials.
