    9/11

6 years ago. Wow seems just like yesterday.

Let's give our troops a hand They've been out there a while. And don't forget the family's of 9/11/01.

Where was everyone on 9/11 6 years ago?
Let's see.. I was a ... sophmore or Junior I think. Skipping class and relaxing in the cafeteria eating cookies. At the very same time, a crazy dude on a big street near my school started shooting off into the road with his AK. I thought the world was going to crap.

getting ready to go to the Dr. Turned on the tv in half a daze, I had just woken up. I didn't realize what was going on, some building on fire or something. It took a few seconds for me to understand, ran into my Mom's room and woke her up.

    U.S. Troops FTW.

    thank you all.

I was doing ... pretty much the same thing I'm doing now, up very late working on some Web stuff. A friend came on ICQ and told me to turn on the TV. Most of the major news sites were hammered at the time so I posted a little recap of info on ours.

I thought it'd be a good idea for some reason to save all the major airlines' homepages just then and I still have them around here somewhere.

The next day, almost the entire world stood with us in solidarity. What happened to that in the 6 years since is almost criminal.

Yea. We turned on the news too. I remember CNN.com just had a picture and a few paragraphs, everything else was shut down, even that one page and they were backed up and slow so many people viewing it.
We had a ex government official so it was neat he was telling us all his theories and stuff, and had a little more info than most news networks.

Im so pissed right now. One of the salsemen in my office came in today whining about the flag being at half mast. He says "that was years ago, we might as well just leave it like that all year."

I had to close my door. Any response at all would have been unpleasant.

But definitely a solemn day for the rest of us. Prayers for the families of the fallen and for those on the front line

It is particularly strange to be here in Iraq on this anniversary, especially as we lost some Marines recently here. I have that empty feeling now that I had for weeks when 9-11 happened in '01. I knew then that we would be over here somewhere, and I would be part of it somehow.

I hurt for the 343 Firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, 37 Port Authority officers, and the 2,974 innocent civilians who were murdered by 19 radical Islamic cowards on that day.

I hurt for the 3,775 American service members who have died fighting this war on terror.

I hurt for the 103 employee's of my company who have died in the line of duty while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I hope beyond hope that peace will come to this land, and I fear greatly that we will never get there.

Thought that would be gratifying, it would be pointless. Hes a cynical "expletive deleted" about something everyday. It doesnt usually even register but it rubbed me the wrong way this morning. And it happened about 2 minutes after I went out and lowered the flag.

But whatever, its not worth dwelling on. Today shoud be a day of rememberance not conflict.

It is a huge sin that six years later and ground zero is still a gapping hole... while politicians squabble about it and only really seem interested in showing up for photo-ops at ground-breaking ceremonies.

Even the planned "Freedom Tower" IMO is proof how timid many of our leaders and people have become. They should be building TWO towers there.. not one.. and they should be the largest, grandest structures in the world.

And they shoud be made of adamantium, covered from the air by a squadron of X-wing fighters and surrounded by a moat filled with the giant alligators living in NY's sewers

I was in the Main Ballast Tank of the USS Montpelier, painting, and my Chief stuck his head in and told us what happened. Everything changed in just a few hours time....

Well, I was in 8th grade sitting in health class. At the beginning of the period, our principal made the announcement that the WTC's were hit. Every teacher grabbed a TV or a radio and ignored thier planned lessons for the day.

It was sad. Especially since my dad was in the Navy at the time. He ended up going active duty, but didn't leave the country (too old, thank God).

And now, my absolute best friend in the Army is over in Iraq (literally the only non-relative that I consider family), another good friend is in Air Force basic and probably going over as EOD. Crazy how life goes sometimes.

And as much as I hate our politics, I love our troops.
