Sad to hear it. Unfortunately genetics have a lot to do with it also. My buddies gramps, smoked sence he was 14, still does and he's about 98 and can out move me up in the mountains any day. My pops had an MI about 8 years ago, 1.5 ppd and enough coffee to keep a small city awake. He stopped smoking and hardly drinks coffee now, but could stand to lose about 50lbs. Of course I don't see a reason to smoke cigs, but hey, what ever floats your boat.
Due to the objections of a certain Canadian, this space is now for rent.

My Dad passed away this year. He was 45 years old. I went and ate dinner with him Sunday night and we played some World of Warcraft together. I woke up Monday morning at 4:30 am with my Mom calling me telling me to come to the hospital and he had died before I got there from a massive heart attack. My Dad didn't smoke or drink but was a little overweight. It can happen to anyone. Take care of yourselves...

I'd rather bite the dust than have people tell me what I should and shouldn't do.
