I know how frustrating it can be (I was out of commission on and off for 4 years, wheel chair 6 months, cruches 2 years, hospital a couple months, confined to house ~6 months)
So my advice to you : Take advantage of it as much as possible.
I actually (You will think this is crazy being in an accident) was thinking about having what you had done to myself. Long story short, my left leg is messed up a lot. Took many years past those 4 years to be able to function normally. (Up until a couple years ago I couldn't even jump on one leg)
There's nothing you can do about it. So just take advantage of it anyway you can. Don't feel too proud to accept help. Even at a young age I was too prideful and didn't like help. But after a while I just said "screw it" and took advantage as much as I could from whatever.
As for the wife thing.. well good luck with that.
Focus on (if your doing it) your physical therapy as much as you can. It will make the world of difference. Find a hobby. Preoccupation if the key to surviving this. Don't let your mind wander too far or you will go insane (At least I did)
I don't know if what anything I said made any sense I'm tired and excited for the BoSox wooping some butt tonight but I will say again : keep your mind off stuff that annoys you. Keep busy.
