You need to lose about 400 lbs before you talk to any recruiters.

you can find a list of enlisted rates here. www.gocoastguard.com
be advised though they are talked up a little.

Im an operations specialist, I work in a communications center and do mostly distress communications (MAYDAYs). I also process security clearences for all the units under us. on a ship I would also be working Radar Navigation and stuff like that.

boot camp is... boot camp, most people make it through, some dont. try to find a video called "its just eight weeks" its about coast guard boot camp. CG boot camp is in Cape May, NJ.

the ASVAB test is the same as all the other services. i wouldnt sweat it too much, and i also dont think its the kind of test you can study for, exept maybe the math section. your score will show what rates you can go for. i think its a min of 44 (AFQT) to get in... but not sure.
however in the CG you dont have to chose a job before you go in, you can go in as a NON rate (most people do) and pic a job later. in fact you arnt rated untell you are an E-4

about the coolest thing Ive dont in the CG is sail on the Eagle, ive got a thread a little way down with pics, but that by no means the normal coast guard.

so theres a place to start, let me know if you want to know anything else. oh you might also want to check out Fredsplace.org, its a coastie sight.

Youre quite rude to think you can shame everyone else in the services by joining.
