    Ebay problem/question

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...:X:AAQ:US:1123
This is an auction I ran for a sawzall case. The winning bidder wants to back out since he thought a saw was included. I'm going to file a non-paying bidder report but wanted some feedback as to if my description was clear enough first.
The title as well as the first sentence I think makes it clear as day it's a case only. Then their is the category, it is not listed in the power tools category, rather it is in the power tool accessories category. I tried to include a picture of the case opened and empty but didn't do it right, the URL to the picture however is in the description. Then the price should have tipped him off as well, $15 or so is the going rate for a case, you shouldn't expect a saw and a case for that price.

So am I justified in filing a non-paying bidder report or should I let it go?

from his feedback it looks like an honest mistake. You can relist and not get charged for it.
    Let it go.

when i pulled it up it said

      "MILWAUKEE SAWZALL RECIPROCATING SAW CASE"

I interpruit(sp) that as. A Milwaukee Sawzall recriprocating saw case. IE a case that a milwaukee sawzall reciprocating saw will fit in.

Pretty cut in dry if you ask me. Turn him in.

An honest mistake is simply that....an honest mistake. If you were to switch places, perhaps you would want someone to cut you some slack for an honest mistake. Let's cultivate a little common courtesy and understanding in this world, it will make it a better place for us all. And you'll feel better about yourself. You are going to have to re-list it to sell it any way, right?

Well he asked me before he bid, about half an hour before the auction ended. I didn't get the question until it ended and he won. My opinion is he shouldn't have bid if he wasn't sure. It cost me about $3 to list it, so that is what I would loose. But I have to figure that's 20% of my profit. It's now going to cost me $6 to sell a $15 item, 40% of my profit. It's not like I'm one of the guys who edits their auction the last day to add that you're only bidding on a PSIII box, not the system.

I asked him to cover the eBay/paypal fees. If he covers that I can re-list it without loosing anything. I think that's fair for both of us, I don't loose anything, and he pays $3 instead of choosing between a non-paying bidder report and a sawzall case he can't use.

And the last time I made an "honest mistake" and offered to pay the listing fee and something for the sellers time I had my account on gunbroker.com suspended.

good call he should be willing to cover your loss there, i can see that as a simple mistake there but wow he needs to read, the title says case the first sentence says case, then another spot in there says you dont know how you got it and you never kept anything it it

Sounds like he was being a little too hopeful.
