there is a bottle of johnny walker blue sitting on the shelf at my local liquor store. I thought about buying it but i can't justify spending $217 on a bottle of liquor.

i went with the keg'o'beer instead.

Meh, Blue isn't worth it. You can get better scotches for the money.

Best I've ever had is Glenlivet 18yo single malt. I know, I'm a beginner lol.

Picked up a bottle of Ardbeg last night for $42. Oddly enough they still had the 1990 bottling, but it was over $100 so I passed on that.

Its quite good. Its a little easier to drink than Laphroaig or Lagavulin. Where they have a very strong flavor and a powerful smoky aroma, the Ardbeg keeps the same flavors and aromas but not quite as potent.

I'd say its probably great for someone who wants to get into Islay scotches but isn't sure if they would like the very potent and flavorful Laphroaig and Lagavulin.

                  Definitely worth buying (and drinking!).

After some further side-by-side "testing" the Ardbeg holds up rather nicely against the Laphroaig 10-year and Quarter Cask.

Need to get my hands on a new bottle of Lagavulin now...
