    California ablaze

So there's about a dozen fires roaming around California right now. Half of them are not accessible to helicopter help due to the incredibly high winds whipping around. A few houses have burned in Malibu and San Diego, several freeways are shut off completely, evacuations everywhere, and fire crews spread thin.

    Pretty crazy

All these disasters remind me why I don't live on the west coast.

If we lost half in a quake it would likely be the half we should keep...

/this should really be two states
God....I guess I was probably returning videotapes.

What do you know dead wood burns great. Maybe one day the tree huggers will learn that clearing the dead trees from the forest will help.

we'd also lose 3/4ths of the illeagle population.

We do not have earthquake season, nor any earthquake warning sirens. Hell, we don't even comment on one unless it goes over 4.5. Every state has its big fires, we just have more TV helicopters to bring the pictures to you

Also.....we do not have Donald Trump. Touche'?

Hey, besides some minor flooding, a small tornado that might take out one trailer in the park, a bad snow storm about once every 15 years, I think PA is in pretty good shape as far as natural disasters.

I hope they get things under control in CA. Fire is a nasty thing.

I don't think many people appreciate the magnitude of the situation here in San Diego. 250,000 + people have been evacuated and more are expected to have to leave in the next few hours. To put this in perspective this evacuation is the largest since Hurricane Katrina.

Check out the google map of the burn area http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0...8ac31fe3357571

For most people, all they know about CA is what they've heard about or seen on TV. If people want to hate CA, let them. It'll keep them away. The population and housing prices are high enough already. The bad press can be a good thing.

You got that right. Below 4.5 is ho hum, you might not even notice it. You only start paying attention at around 4.5. You keep doing what you're doing but you wait to see if it gets any stronger.

What natural disaster has to occur to lose the segment of the population that can't spell?

My wife's aunt and cousins have had to evacuate but my brother's family is safe. I'm halfway across the country "safely" in Missouri. I hope this ends soon and all of you out in CA are safe.
